Ugh. Urban continues to impress me on the field and to nauseate me off...

Tribe-- adding the suspended players back in will do no good if the QB can't hit 'em... Bauserman missed SO many open receivers in the UT game... and the only word I can use to describe his performance against "tha U" is abysmal. They've either got to get Braxton calmed down (I believe his mistakes to be lack-of-experience/nerve induced) or get Kenny up to speed pronto...

So what's ND's problem then, Van?

Oh, you could not be MORE wrong...

... but once again, I'm reminded why I almost never venture to T&R threads-- fun, logical, reasoned debate quickly gives way to muck-slinging, name calling, and insults.

I take my leave of you, "gentlemen" (and I use this term exceptionally loosely.)

Actually, he came around from the Dark Side and rejoined The Force (his mother was an Ohio State fan as well) when all of his money started going to Columbus... I consider it a victory.

I'd be a fool if I thought that winning played no part in this fiasco. Of course it did-- it does in EVERY top tier program in the country. But I do not believe that was his PRIMARY motive. If you take the time to find and stories that are about more than shoving Tressel's face further in the mud (difficult in this pile-on climate, I know, but they are there), there is some email content there. And everything published from the emails thus far is about teaching the boys a lesson, not about eligibility, and not about winning.

As I've said ad nauseum, he lied and he deserves punishment. Tressel is no saint, but neither is he evil incarnate. And from everything I can tell, his motives SEEM about as selfless as they come. Call it naive, call it homerism, call it whatever you want. Laugh if you want. Until I've proof to the contrary, I'll maintain my position.

And if I'm wrong, well, you've been around long enough to know that I'll eat my crow in that case.

There is a HUGE difference between rivalry-hate and hating on a program. Rivalry includes respect, in this case for a top-tier educational institution and the winningest college football program in history.

My hatred for TSUN is borne from over 100 years of playing each other, the Ten-Year War, a 2-10-1 record during the Cooper years, and a 9-1 record during the Tressel era. It is derived from yelling matches with my father (a TSUN fan until both of his children went to Ohio State) on the day of "The Game", getting punished for singing alternative lyrics to the TSUN fight song, and sitting in the Big House student section proudly wearing my OSU gear knowing full well we were going to get pummeled on the field and verbally attacked and mocked off.

My hatred for TSUN is NOT derived from a delusional, absolute disdain for anything to do with the school or its football program, maintaining that there is nothing redeemable about it or that all its victories are somehow tainted, even when ample evidence is provided to the contrary. It is

THAT is hating on a program and where most of you slamming my alma mater fall. You might want to learn the difference.

Oh, and to this very moment, it's been two thousand, seven hundred nineteen days since TSUN beat Ohio State.

Go Bucks!

1) All Y'all are slow-- I posted this to the NCAA boards yesterday. Like it or not, you've gotta admit it's funny...

2) Fellow Buckeyes, haters will hate. Don't waste time or energy arguing with them. They finally have something VALID to justify themselves... let them have their day in the sun.

3) Tressel lied. As I said in my blog, I will not defend what he did. Regardless of his motives (which *I* believe were on the up and up), what he did was wrong, and whatever punishment he receives he deserves.

4) It's May 3rd, 2011, and M*ch*gan still sucks. Long live rivalry!

Shameless self promotion: I wrote a bit about the trophy naming meeting and posted it on both the NCAAF Board and my blog. (I understand where they were going with it and why they did it, but come on...) Maybe I should have done the division naming meeting instead...

Either way, the divisions are laughable and the logo is ridiculous. EPIC FAIL.

It's a hyperlink to an article, and it doesn't work because of FN's STUPID propensity to add spaces in long urls. Try this one.

Make sure FN didn't add spaces.

Eesh. What I MEANT to say was:

"How is your set-up equally divided? It's not. That's why, as much as it SUCKS that the last game in November won't be OSU/TSUN, it's more equitable to put them in separate divisions.

That's what I get for trying to hurry up and post before going to teach...
Posted Thursday August 26, 2010, About: Delany: OSU-UM process nearly complete
But this goes back to JRM's point:

Your division is based on the past four years, with Iowa's growth and TSUN's decline. I'm not ready to list Iowa as a perennial powerhouse just yet, nor am I willing to write TSUN off.

Using the last 17 years ??? the time frame the Big Ten is looking at ??? the top six overall winning percentages are: Ohio State (.797), Nebraska (.760), Penn State (.703), Michigan (.695), UW (.686) and Iowa (.580).

How is that equally divided? It's not. That's why, as much as it SUCKS that the last game in November won't be OSU/TSU, it's more equitable to put them in separate divisions.

(Harley, I think I've already moved to acceptance...)
