The announcers during the BC-ND game made note of the two bodyguards who now flank Weis during games to prevent another collision. If the bodyguards really want to help Charlie, they should slap out of his hands all of those Egg McMuffins and bowls of ice cream that he ingests every day.
Sorry. You're right, but I do research things. In fact, I was distracted by a couple of side research projects that I have, so I couldn't fully concentrate. The first involves counting all of the FSU players that are on academic probation and should have been suspended from the team by Week 3 of the 2007 season, but they got help from the school in keeping it quiet until the team made a bowl (with the help of the players that should have not been playing in the first place, BTW). I think I'm somewhere in the 20s by now. The second project involves trying to decipher everything that FSU alum Deion Sanders ever has said in front of a camera.
Daggum it to you.
"[A]ny coach in the country would be doing the same thing, he is not going out on a limb here." You could not be more wrong. NCAA football history is loaded with examples of coaches and other members of football programs covering up for their players. If this kid was at FSU, Miami, South Carolina, or Texas, for example, he probably would have been given eight or nine strikes before anyone took real action.
I hate ND like Weis hates the size of the portions at a French restaurant, but Charlie and the school absolutely did the right thing here. Playing NCAA football (on scholarship, no less) is a privilege, not a right.
No Weis fat-jokes today, Sexton, just a ticket from the spelling police: It's "you're over your head." "You are" = "you're."
As for those African Americans who continue to worship and make excuses for this POS, you are doing yourselves and your people a disservice. People like Vick, O.J., the ex-Mayor from Detroit, and others cut from the same cloth are a cancer and should be cut away from the body of the Black community. You do not stop cancer from growing by embracing it.
I don't know about anyone else, but when I saw Charlie go down, I had visions of Luke Skywalker launching those photon torpedos into the exhaust vent.
Listen, knucklehead. We're talking about the UGA football team. Facts are facts, and the facts are that the UGA football program's graduation rate is abysmal. As late as last year, it was under 50% and under 25% if you happen to be a black guy. Let's not kid ourselves here. Like Penn State, FSU, and a whole host of others, UGA has made academics a back-seat issue when compared with getting "athletes" on the field.
