They both report to the owner - at least on the Raiders. Might be different on other teams.

And you're right, change is necessary. Her parting statement indicates there were differences of opinion. I admittedly just have a hard time dealing with it. Trask was beloved by the fan base and I doubt the next CEO will have that kind of connection.

According to Jim Trotter, Trask was told she would take a subordinate position under his ownership. She may have just said F it, I'm outta here as a result. But still, she bled silver and black, so it's really hard for me to imagine her anywhere else. Wow. Equating someone coming out of the closet to terrorism, drunk drivers and child molesters is kind of a reach, isn't it?

The courage shown comes from knowing there will be responses akin to this. Not everyone will agree to the lifestyle but those who oppose can sometimes go a little overboard as you've displayed.
