Posted Friday March 22, 2013, About: Texas AD: We decide when we play A&M again
It's in neither teams best interest to play each other anytime soon. It's far better for A&M to go off and re-build the rivalry with LSU that we had in the late 80s and early 90s or start one with Alabama then to play Texas. It's better for Texas and another Texas Big XII school to build up a great rivalry amongst themselves.

That would be a great QB addition for Baylor. This probalby means Matt Davis will be the backup qb next year in Aggieland.
Posted Tuesday January 29, 2013, About: Bill filed to require Longhorns-Aggies game
I think the two schools will learn to play nice again in the future. The Texas legislature only meets for about 2 months every 2 years. I seriously doubt this bill will receive much attention.

Even more impressive then going to the middle of nowhere Indiana to play for Notre Dame is actually having to attend class. j/k

Yes. The 2012 Bonfire is scheduled for 11/23 at 8 pm.

Agree. Now the big question will be will the two junior OT's stay for their senior year or will they head to the draft? Sumlin will get all the credit for turning the program around, but it was Sherman that re-stocked the talent lost during those ugly Fran years.

And apparently my work computer is slow and didnt delete my first comment...gig em!
Posted Thursday November 08, 2012, About: Can A&M beat Alabama?
We can beat them if we play our best game. More important is the fact that this is even being discussed. It shows how much A&M has improved as a team under Sumlin.

We can beat them if we play our best game. More importantly, the fact that this is even (a) news (b)possible says a lot about how much the team has improved in Sumlin's first season.
Posted Tuesday November 06, 2012, About: Nation's No. 1 WR prospect wears Aggies gloves
LOL! Yes, but unlike last year, it was the Florida defense and a few others that have been lying on the field with suspicious injuries due to the speed of our offense vs our guys (ala OK Lite last year).

I agree. And the defense (except for the LA Tech game) has played better this season then in years past. I really think one of the biggest differences this year is the new strength and conditioning coach. The team is bigger, faster and in far better shape.

That is assuming that the UT program stays an elite program, which it hasn't been in the past 3 years. 20 years ago, A&M was the football power in Texas and Texas was horrible. Same can be said about LSU, in the late 80s' and early 90's A&M dominated them too until they canceled the contract where we opened each season against them . The momentum changed when we lost scholarships after Greg Hill got paid for a job he never showed up for and when Texas hired Brown.

The simple point is this, if Sumlin can recruit A&M has the talent to be a top 10 team year in and year out. If he can build the program to be a competitive top 10 team on a yearly basis he will get the financial reward mentioned above as well as raise the status of the job he has to and "top tier" program.

As I side note, I do miss seeing us playing Tech and Thanksgiving will not be the same this year or for many many years to come, but the SEC seems to be paying dividends when it comes to recruiting and it sure is nice to be on TV every weekend.

Really? We have a rabid fan base, a school that is about to pump 400 million plus into remodeling the stadium, and donors with as much $$ as any other university. The Big 12 years were lean years. Some of it was self inflicted based on NCAA sanctions from the early 90's, the rest was self inflicted for hiring Fran. Why would he leave in 2 years? He has a redshirt freshman QB who will only get better, and a conference that gets him all the tv exposure he needs to continually recruit the talent he wants and a job in what is considered the best conference in Football.
Posted Monday April 30, 2012, About: Showers dazzles, but A&M won't commit
The 2012 Class was highly ranked and Sumlin did do a good job holding on to most of the players. We did lose a pretty high rated Athlete from the Houston area to Oregon as well as a lineman or two I think. As for the QB situation one of my co-workers went to the Maroon and White game and said that the assumed backup at the moment had the better arm. The other
not so promising news was our defense looked very very slow.

Personally, I'm hoping for the best but with our AD getting re-assigned, the move to the SEC, switching to a pass happy offense, a 4-3 from a 3-4, and a new coach who couldn't even win the Conf USA Title, I'm a bit skeptical of our chances. On a positive note that means we'll have the opportuinity to get another new coach in 3-4 years. Gig Em!

He hasn't run me off. Now work does seem to get in the way for months on end.
Posted Thursday April 12, 2012, About: Texas A&M considering new stadium
The University has plenty of land if they choose to build a new stadium elsewhere on the campus. Kyle Fied is currently connected to two buildings that were used for the Health and Kinesiology. Plans are already in the works to move that department to a new building on the west part of Campus and to raze those 2 buildings to make room for the rebuild/expansion of the stadium.

The rumor is that if they choose to tear it down they would play in Houston at Reliant Stadium for 2+ years but most of the local businesses are scared at the economic impact it would cause. Love us or hate us home games bring in a significant amount of money to Bryan/College Station.

Depends on the direction...Houston and Austin are both 90 miles from College Station.
Posted Thursday September 22, 2011, About: Beebe 'a puppet' for Texas?
so much for a rational discussion!

Whether you agree with us leaving, you disagree with it, or you just don't care it's been a good move so far. A&M sold out it's season ticket allotment, the allumni base is excited, and the school is excited. How that plays out in the future is yet to be determined.
Posted Thursday September 22, 2011, About: Beebe 'a puppet' for Texas?
I think it's more that it's backed by ESPN, advertised all day on ESPN (especially as it got closer and closer to the season). And honestly when I'm watching ESPN I don't really want to see commercials with BEVO on them or those promoting the Longhorns (but I'll give credit here - they are very well done commercials.)

I'd engage in the rational discussion on why A&M left with you, but I lack facts. However, from an exposure stand point it's a great move. We will be on National TV (as opposed to a Fox Affiliate or Versus) far more often then we have been in the past. However that also means we have to win far more often then we have in the past 10-15 years.

To me, I'll miss us playing some traditional rivals each year and Thanksgiving might never be the same. It does provide us an opportunity to create new rivals as well as play teams that we used to have rivalries with in the past (Arkansas and LSU). And, if they can somehow maintain the A&M / Texas game each year it should make even more $$ now given it can be marketed as not only the Lone Star Shootout but the SEC vs Big 12.
