It was great...and I laughed at our embarrassment as much as the next guy.
Nobody can say he did not know how serious the penalties could be...Vick knew it was illegal, that is why he did not have the house in his name. That is why these fights are help in secrecy. I have no sympathy for the man...at all. When this is all over, he will have paid his debt to society. I will wish him the best and hope that he has done some soul-searching during the past xx months. I wish him success in whatever he decides to do and hope our prison system has successfully helped him see the error of his ways...that is what prison is "supposed" to do...right?
Vick has had people digging him out of his holes since he was a kid. While I don't blame anyone but Vick for his actions, this is the kind of thing that happens when people don't set proper boundries and follow through on punishments...
One of the issues that seems to be forgotten here is Mike Vick's attitude about the whole thing when he got caught. He had the "I'm Mike Vick, so ain't nothing going to happen to me" attitude...this attitude was very obvious when media questioned him and even carried over to law enforcement and during preliminary court proceedings. He probably would have gotten a lighter sentence if that attitude had not prevailed.
The charge of cruelity to animals is secondary in this case...and is only a misdemeanor.
So, unless Marbury's contract says the Knicks will keep him emotionally happy, and guarantees playing time at a specific position (in addition to the $22M), he needs to shut the heck up and do whatever the Knicks want him to do on the court.
As far as I am concerned, if a coach tells a player that his job is to rebound and not take a single shot, then it is insubordination if he does otherwise. Obviously that is an extreme scenario, but not much different than my boss telling me what my job is and then turning around and doing something else...
She wants half of the money accumulated during the marriage (valid)
She wants child support in addition to that (questionable because the above amount should be plenty to maintain the lifestyle)
On top of all of that, she wants alimoney to maintain the high level of living they are used to (this is was truely makes her the gold digger...don't you think half of the money he made during their marriage is enough to maintain this lifestyle?)
these ladies are not even U.S. citizens. What right does the LPGA have to force them to speak english.

The LPGA is a private employer...they can set the job requirements as they please. It is not someone RIGHT to play on the LPGA. I don't have a problem with this...
Listen...if someone wants to come to our country and collect the benefits of being in this country, they should learn the language.
If I was going to go live/work in Germany (or any other given country) because I thought they offered more for my and my family, I would not expect the country to adapt to my language. If one of my job requirements was to interact with German's, and I chose not to learn the language, It would be nobody's fault but my own if I got canned.
I am sure there had probably been a behind the scenes push to have the players learn english for a while. My guess is that a few of the star foreigners have refused to do so...
The LPGA is, and has been, stuggling to survive for a long time. Securing sponsorship is what keeps these tours going. This is a effort to generate more income for the tour. If they generate more income for the tour, these foreigners can say "thank you" in English when their winnings get bigger too.
You can't compare a team sport (Yao or Ichiro example from above) to that of golf. Whole cities, states, regions get behind a TEAM and purchase apparal (revenue) and such. Regions don't buy Cory Pavin or Paula Creamer shirts...and even if they did, they are not branded by the LPGA...and that equals no revenue for them.
The ONLY way a golf tour can exist is with sponsors...period. If their stars can't relate to sponsors, their tour will cease to exist.
Get past the fact that this will make a few people open a book or purchase the Rosetta Stone software (the first Korean to learn English with that software has a great opportunity for endorsements...).
It is no different than NFL/NBA rookies having to go through rookie orientation to learn how not to be a thug (and I don't mean just black people...so don't go there) any more...If players act like thugs, the league can't market them...
This is no different...if the players can't communicate with the money, the money will go elsewhere...
