I would trade both of them for a bag of fertilizer. Just to get rid of the two worst pitchers the Twins have. Even if Lariano isn't ready bring another young guy up and give him a shot. I would rather see that than see Boof and Livan throw another game. They are horrendous!

He wanted out of MN as soon as he was traded. He wanted to play for a contender. Also it just seems like a lack of professionalism. He is getting paid millions of dollars to ride the pine. How much easier could life get?

The Twins have to trade Hernandez for anything. He is due to make another $2 million dollars if he pitches 200 innings or more. Cuddy had a good year last year and should have some trade value. He is an above average defender with an excellent arm. I see why they want to trade him with Span hitting and playing as well as he has. I see the Twins ending up with either Beltre or Atkins. Both teams are selling right now and Hernandez is done after this year. Beltre is overpaid and that would help Seattle clear some money to sign free agents this offseason.

Mayo = Wade is a huge stretch! He was good in college but he is also already 21 years old and would have been a junior in college if he wasn't such an idiot. I think both Love and Mayo are going to be good players but neither one is going to be a superstar. The T-Wolves dumped Jaric's contract and took on Cardinals which is a year less than Jaric's crappy deal. Winner T-Wolves. The Wolves also got rid of fat boy Walker and Greg Buckner both of these guys were not going to play anyway. Winner T-Wolves. Collins will be off the books after this year and gives the T-Wolves a serviceable option at center till next year when they can draft a couple of players with the 4 first round and 2 second round picks they will have. T-Wolves win unless Mayo becomes a complete stud and I don't see that happening

The Twins should trade Livan Hernandez and get something for him. If he reaches 200+ innings the Twins have to pay him another $2 million. It is time to sell him. They should bring up another young pitcher to fill his spot.

The Twins have the pitching to make them competitive year in and year out. They just need to have one or two guys in the minors develop or go out and sign someone. They have been the best in the business at developing pitching and winning with pitching and little else.

Hunter got denied by Ryan because Pohlad won't open his pocket book. Ryan has to try to sign 5 all-stars with a budget of under $75 million and try to get players around these all-stars. There is only so much money that can be used. That money is considering the amount of revenue that should be here when the new stadium is finally open. He might have been able to get Hunter a little cheaper last off season but you have to remember that Hunter is having a career year.

I will not disagree with you about the fact that Ortiz didn't do anything with the Twins. I was simply saying that he missed on Ortiz but that is hindsight. I would say the only other player would be Casey Blake who would fit nicely at 3B. I am not saying Ryan made a mistake given the information he had at the time but now it looks like they could have helped the team.

I would also like to say that Castillo wasn't going to put this team over the hump. They didn't have the pitching from a year ago and they didn't get the production from the players hitting that they did a year ago. It's not really Terry Ryans fault that Nick Punto hit about .200 all year and he was just one player. The entire team, with the exception of T Hunt, hit horribly. Adding another pitcher would have helped this year but they have a ton of pitching prospects that will be ready next year. Next years rotation looks like this: Santana, Lariano, Baker, Garza, and maybe Boof or Silva. You name a better rotation in baseball than that. They need to add a right handed power-hitter and they have tried to do that with some fill in guys like Rondell and Cirillo. This team will be a lot better next year if they can keep this group together and add another piece to the puzzle. Castillo wasn't the long term answer at second base. He is old with bad knees and not as much range as Casilla. Castillo is on the down hill slide and Casilla is an up and coming Jose Reyes if he can figure out how to hit a little better. I would rather have Casilla than Castillo. Castillo said he wouldn't play in the dome because it was too hard on his knees. The Twins knew that and got a couple prospects for basically a guy who was a fill in.

What a joke! The Twins have to make decisions like this because they don't have the revenue that other major league teams have. The New York teams have their own television network and they bring in like $50 million a year from radio and T.V. contracts. The Twins on the other hand make about $4 million a year on their deals. Ryan has only made one bad move that didn't work out for the Twins, David Ortiz. You think he is riding a wave off the A.J. trade, but I think he has done it in the draft and by not signing guys like Latroy Hawkins and Eddie G. He hasn't made many mistakes when signing guys within the organization. That is the bottom line. If you want to blame a cheap **** owner that is fine but don't blame the guy who is doing awesome with so little money to work with.
