The Stafford issue will also be key: if he is healthy, the team has playoff aspirations; if not, Hill and Stanton can get them into 7-9 win territory but probably not the playoffs, not with Rodgers and Cutler QBing two of their main competitors for said playoff spots.

I hope that Patterson is right, but I think Dogg has the stronger case at this point. In addition to the issue of a serious need for CBs, the Lions have not done much to improve their linebacking corps (only added a 5th rounder). In short, they have some serious work to do in free agency, and I doubt that they will be able to fill all of the holes on defense with quality players.
I can't find much fault with your list. Personally, my Lions took some risk with Fairly, but I can give Mayhew and Co. the benefit of the doubt on that one.
Yes, there is significant risk with Newton. But what is the biggest risk that some of these teams took in the first round? Simply that a first round QB should be a franchise QB, and I think that Newton has a better chance of being a franchise-level guy than Locker, Gabbert, and especially Ponder. So, good luck this fall Carolina. And, score another one for djroxalot.
Ah, Frog, "tolerance" and "inclusiveness" means including a-h-oles too.

Word! Dallas is intriguing to say the least. They are much better than I expected them to be (of course my expectations for the Spurs were pretty low before the season started as well).
