Lofton was a malcontent during his thankfully brief stay in New York. He needed his hand held, and when Torre wasn't willing to mollycoddle him, he pouted and sulked. Glad he's out of the game, and glad his bitter grudge didn't keep Sabathia from signing with the Yankees.

They do have some work to do, and it goes beyond the catcher (my gosh, Jason Varitek looked feeble in that final ALCS game...). Big Papi isn't what he used to be, and their pitching staff didn't look nearly as unhittable as they did in the prior season or two. They're a good team, but to imply they can sit tight and do nothing isn't telling the whole story.

Had the Knicks not been so open about the possibility of cutting Starbury outright, they might have been able to wrangle a draft pick or two out of the Heat. Something is better than nothing, though I confess I'll be glad to see him gone regardless of the circumstances.

Given the Cavs won't be winning a title over the next two seasons, there's no possible way James sticks around. While I'd love for him to wind up with the Knicks, the Nets might wind up being a better fit. Nets have to make it to Brooklyn first, though.

Walsh and D'Antoni might be able to dump Randolph on another team closer to 2010 when his contract is almost at its end. Surely there will be someone out there who thinks its worth taking a chance on a guy with his skills when there's just a year left on his contract. Use him as a reserve, or to bolster an already strong front line and it might be a gamble worth taking.

It's a shame Lee is on the market - He's one of the few guys who works hsrd and produces results on that roster.

Hi, I'm Troy McClure is absolutely correct. Chacon was vilified in the media and the blogosphere, and his team dealt with the issue in the proper manner. The breaks this piece of garbage Ramirez gets from the Red Sox and the media because he's a quirky superstar are the worst kind of double-standard. People blather on and on about what a classy organization the Red Sox are. Sure doesn't seem to be the case this week.
