While it would be nice for Tim to get a legitimate shot at QBing a team, it may not happen. Todd Blackledge was a very good college QB that did not survive long in the NFL and became one of the best college football commentators around. Tim may be the same.
The Dolphins came in last in terms of attendance %age with only 76.3%. So, how can you make more $$ if not selling all your tickets? By upgrading the stadium so you can charge more for existing seats and especially for the luxury suites. Agree with 50yearfan above, call his bluff.
Very hard for aging upper end players to accept that they will need to take a pay cut. James Harrison turned down the Steelers offer, which lead to him being cut and he eventually had to settle for even less $$.
He can continue to produce as a mid-level QB. So if there is talent around him, they can do well. I don't ever see him getting back to being the player he was before the Steelers crushed him.
I don't think anyone sees any player really worth trading up to take for the cost that the chiefs would probably want. If there was a great QB coming out, that would be different.
Interesting - The only real stat Stafford had better than Palmer last year was total yds (4967 vs 4081). Palmer was better in comp %age (61.1 vs 59.8), Avg yds (7.11 vs 6.83), TDs (22 vs 20), Ints (14 vs 17).
The real question is if Bey is so fast and can get open so well, then why did his stats drop in 2012 from 115 targets for 64 receptions for 975 yds, to 80 tgts for 41 recp. for 6060 yds when Palmer's passing yds went up from 2753 to 4018? I think this is the real reason he has had a lack of takers so far.
Bold prediction to say a 45% increase in his yards from last season and a 67% increase in tds. Of that 879 yds in the final 8 games, 224 was against NO ranked #31 in pass D, 216 against the Skins (#30) and 145 against Browns (#25) - so 585 against bad Ds. In that same period he had 59 against Steelers and 50 against the Bengals. So don't see it being even close.
You don't want to bring back a player that refused to deal and was cut, because he probably won't be dedicated. May play with a sense of resentment of having to come back.
Seems odd that Carson would target him less, as Palmer through only for 2753 yds in 2011 of which Bey got 975, yet in 2012 he threw for 4018 and bey gets 606. So wonder why he wouldn't target the guy he accounted for over 1/3 of his yds the year before.
Will really be interesting to see if Amendola can put up the numbers that Welker was there, and also if Welker continues to put up those numbers in Denver. Then we'll know if it was a good decision for NE to let him go.
