And another article from the student paper after the OSU loss and his announced retirement commenting on the feeling at the time.

I know he was a great figure, and it is probably true the vast majority did respect him and want him there, but your memory must be short if you don't recall the heat from within the UM community about wanting him to go. Especially after starting out 0-2, and losing to Appalachian State. See the UM Student Newspaper even commented on 10 new "Fire Lloyd" facebook pages: http://www.michigandaily.com/content/scott-bell-time-blame-game.

They are always groups of fans that become spoiled or unrealistic. The same was true at PSU a few years back, when there were some bad seasons.

I for one wish Lloyd was still there. He was definitely a classy coach.

If they want to get rid of him, NCAA violations may be what they would need to fire him "with cause", thereby allowing them to not give him a buyout or continue to pay him.

Regardless of how bad it looks, and I'm no RRod fan, I think they will give him another year. Need to really give a coach with a whole new type of offense time to get his style of recruits in place to play.

Interesting to see how much Roger will fine one of the guys that pays his salary. Should be at least $50,000.
Posted Friday November 13, 2009, About: Lewis rips Mangini's methods
I think Mangini will get booted out of Cleveland at some point and go back to being an assistant. Some guys just can't cut the head job.
Posted Thursday November 12, 2009, About: Tate focusing on Irish before NFL
Also, I would expect that the new NFL CBA will lower, possible drastically, the rookie pool, and free up money to pay the players that have proven they can play. So coming out now may be very wise.
Posted Thursday November 12, 2009, About: Gruden to coach in 2010?
He will coach again. While college in general can be less crazy, especially if winning, I think he'll want to stay in the NFL, and I think he's smart enough not to get dragged into Oakland, Washington and Cleveland. I see Dallas as a possibility, especially if they don't make or go far in the playoffs. While Jones is involved in Dallas, he at least knows football, and seem to not really screw things up.

Wow a player that is hurt playing in the NFL. Great investigative piece. I hear they're doing a story on how some player have their ankles and wrists wrapped before a game.
Posted Wednesday November 11, 2009, About: Gonzalez, wife nude in PETA ad
You know Tony has to be glad to be out of the circus that is the Chiefs, and on a team that is definitely moving in the right direction.
Posted Wednesday November 11, 2009, About: Weis won't discuss job future
I agree. And reporters that ask questions like that should be ashamed of themselves.

I'm no Charlie fan, but ask some relevant questions. Okay to ask if he's disappointed in this season.
Posted Tuesday November 10, 2009, About: Redskins may sign Johnson
The Johnson cut I believe was also bow because he was about to become the leading rushing in Chief's history. No desire to have a malcontent become your leading all time rusher.
Posted Wednesday November 04, 2009, About: Clausen clouds Notre Dame's future
Sorry, they're not the best combo this year. Through current games, Tate is #3 in yardage, and Floyd is #170 in yardage. Combined they have yards = 927+358 = 1285, TDs = 9+5 = 14. This is below other schools, such as Toledo's Page (#4) an Williams (#5) with yards = 909+884 = 1793, and TDs = 7+5 = 12.

Wow, I feel really bad for an assistant that doesn't realize he's not the head coach.
Posted Wednesday October 28, 2009, About: Ex-Packers mad at Favre
I think he has memory issue, as evidenced by him continuing to forget that he retired.
Posted Wednesday October 28, 2009, About: Westbrook out against Giants, Cowboys?
I agree with you there. In 2006, he ran for 1039 yards, with an 8.4 avg. Worth it to see how he works out, and they can then mix in a pass play occasionally too.

No way you should come back in a week from a brain injury.
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Titans owner wants Young to start
I can picture Young sitting on the bench with this fantasy vision, ala Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn's character from Fast Times ...), being interviewed after winning the superbowl, being named mvp, and being inducted to the hof all on the same day.
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Another SEC coach rips officials
I see reported separately that the SEC has "reprimanded" 3 coaches so far this week for complaining about the officiating. So they must have a policy of some sort about this.

I understand the frustration about this, but there are always going to be missed/wrong calls when humans are involved. The review rules have helped a lot, but can not solve 100%. The coaches need to accept this. You know these same coaches are not reviewing film and complaining to the SEC about missed/wrong calls that would have gone against their own team.

If there are issues with the quality of the officials, then the SEC needs to address this. I personally hate that the winner/loser of a game can be decided by a missed/incorrect call, but until the system can be improved, crying about it in public will not solve anything. And it is not a good example to your team, unless you are going to point out any calls they missed against your own team.
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Another SEC coach rips officials
I can understand the frustration here amongst the coaches, but the SEC is going to have to pass some sort of gag rule. You can not continue to have everyone questioning the officials like this. In the pros, this is not allowed - you get fined heavily.

Yes the SEC really needs to look into the quality of their officiating staff, and the coaches should be allowed to forward complaints to the SEC, but these should not be public unless the SEC finds some issues, like when they recently suspended the one crew.
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Titans owner wants Young to start
The season is basically lost at this point. Might as well get another look at Young. Who knows, he could look better, like Alex Smith's return for the 49ers.
Posted Monday October 26, 2009, About: Why Redskins stuck with Zorn
I'm sure he can't see it. He figures if he follows the same plan as he does in business it will simply translate to football. If there are problems, its the players and the coaches fault, not his for interfering.

All really good teams are developed from scouting and getting a good mix of players that can come together as a team under a good system. While you can add a couple of high profile free agents, you can't build a team around them.

I can't wait to see what he does if we have the uncapped year next season. He will try his best to buy his team. We may end up with an asterisk (*) year if we have a couple of teams simply trying to buy a SB.
