Posted Wednesday March 18, 2009, About: Gundy's 'I'm a Man' rant boosts recruiting
Defended him (I believe the player's name was Reid) all the way to FCS Texas Southern.

"I am a man. I am 40" (well, almost), and my son will never play for him. It was over the top (even Reid was confused at his coach's defense of him, as he confirmed a lot of the article that spawned the outburst was fairly on the nose), and took away attention from a critical game and a critical result for OSU. They went 6-6 that year in the regular season, and only made their bowl game because Michael Crabtree dropped a 4th down touchdown pass, square in his hands, in the last few seconds of THAT game.
Posted Thursday January 10, 2008, About: A&M seeks more Dallas recruits
This is on par with University of Miami looking for recruits in Florida...
Sherman is doing one of two things, correcting a wrong from the previous coaching administration or trying to dispell the concerns that he can't recruit...
Posted Thursday January 10, 2008, About: Yankees interested in Lane
Are you kidding me? Lane couldn't hit in the cozy Enron/Minute Maid/Your Name Here Ball Park with no media scrutiny. Imagine when his barely .200 average struggles in NY...
Posted Monday November 19, 2007, About: Johnson breaks big driver myth
Is Zach Johnson going to be this generation's Cory Pavin, never that long off the tee, but can always put it together and be in the picture for a major every once in a while?
Posted Wednesday November 14, 2007, About: Big 12 puts Leach on notice
I will never agree with Leach on anything because he is certifiably pscho, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is wrong. Another Big XII coach a few years back had a public postgame interview blasting the Big XII officiating and how it helped the 'horns in their BCS chance, and I agreed with Mangino back then. The 'horns do get the benefit of the doubt, a lot.

Nice one...Farva...
Posted Wednesday October 31, 2007, About: Texans add quarterback depth
Remember, all of the offensive problems were David Carr's fault. He was immobile and held the ball too long. It was not the O line's fault. Our QB and offensive issues were solved when we traded for Schaub...
And now Schaub, after being knocked out of 2 other games, will sit this one with the leftover effects of a scrambled brain pan...
The Texans will address the O-Line again, right after they draft DE Chris Long in the 1st Rd (it will help our pass rush)...
Posted Tuesday October 30, 2007, About: Mack fires at media, Texas fans
Shelton, you need to mix in some current events from time to time. SoonerMagic was referencing an "assault" at a bar by an OU fan directed at a 'horn fan that wore the wrong t-shirt in a bar.
Macky Mack has one conference championship, and he got it for recruiting the best player in generations, in spite of his coaching, not for his coaching...
Big Game Bob has lost some of his luster as well...so let the rock throwing continue. Just beware you both (sooners and horns) live in glass houses.
Posted Tuesday October 30, 2007, About: Franchione defends Sooner joke
As an Aggie, Fran should worry about where he is going to work, after this year. SMU has an opening, maybe he can sponge some more dough from a school that doesn't matter in college football, instead of sponging from a school and ensuring they don't matter in college football for the near future.
Oh yeah, when the sooners throw up 50+ on us Saturday, does that mean Bomar didn't pull some shenanigans at Big Red Auto last year? Nope, that still happened. A football game does not rewrite history. The joke was accurate, but its delivery needed work, mainly the timing...
Posted Monday October 01, 2007, About: Aggies coach apologizes to team
So when a reporter gives an opinion and bad mouths a player, that reporter is scum and the coach has every right to make a "insert bad word for person's behind here". See OSU. But what is it when a coach sells this type of information i.e. certain players weakness (lack of speed or inability to consistently catch the ball)? I know that several coaches have web sites and/or insider subscriptions (Va Tech for a cost of $39.95 was one example brought up to me). I have had my head handed to me for disagreeing with the timing and the manner in which Gundy went off on a reporter for writing "garbage" about a "kid", but it is OK for a coach to sell insider information about a "kid"...

Cool deal...

Just wanted to hear your opinion...
Posted Monday September 17, 2007, About: Goodell defends Wilson's suspension
50yearfan...
You obviously feel that Wade earned his suspension (a rule is a rule, and I agree with the suspension), do you feel that Bill B. earned his fair punishment or that he got off easy? And if Bill B. did get of easy, is there is a double standard in how the coaches have been treated?

Dang it...I don't like giving anything or anyone from Austin credit, but I tip my head to both of these guys...Class in both directions...
Posted Monday September 17, 2007, About: Goodell defends Wilson's suspension
The stories around the DFW Metroplex is Wade was acquiring HGH to help alleviate issues of impotence from diabetes related ED...It has been pointed out the Wade purchased A LOT (note the emphasis), and there were some who thought he could possibly be passing the HGH onto players, but that was never formally cited or proved...
I have commented several times about this "coaches held to higher standard" B.S. of Goodell and his handling of Bill B. . Players get suspended (4 games for positive steroid test or for admission of guilt). Asst. coaches get suspended. Head coached who blatantly ignore/challenge the authority of the Commish get a hand slap...
Fact: Goodell informed the coaches using video equipment to monitor opposing coaches is against the rule.
Fact: Bill B. broke this rule the very first chance he got.
Fact: Bill B. was not suspended for violating league rules...
Opinion: Not much of a higher standard there...
Posted Saturday September 15, 2007, About: More Longhorns in trouble
Guys...it is not Macky Mack's fault. It is the fault of all of these high school kids enrolling early as freshmen, attending summer school when the coaches are not there to oversee their actions...

By the way that is sarcasm...and unfortunately, the excuse he gave last month when he players starting showing up on police blotters more often than highlight reels...

Blame it on the freshmen and the NCAA rules...
Posted Tuesday August 21, 2007, About: Texans interested in Chiefs safety
A good D-line can make the secondary behind them look better...get to the QB quicker, and you don't have to cover as long...we addressed the D-line (again) in the draft. Let's see how it works out before grabbing everyone else's also-rans...

And I don't put much stock in pre-season stats, the Saints stunk last year in the preseason while the Raiders went 4-1...let's put 1st teamers against 1st teamers when the money is on the line (and I am not talking about the $800 per week they get during pre-season)
Posted Thursday July 19, 2007, About: Sox consider Astros, Padres arms
All you Astro fans, think about this...the Red Sox wanted and completed a trade back in 1990 getting an Astros reliever and sending a minor leaguer to Houston. I think it worked out pretty well for Houston. I am only praying that lightning strikes twice...give the Bosox one of our relievers...

p.s. that would be Jeff Bagwell for Larry Anderson to those not paying attention
Posted Thursday July 19, 2007, About: Stars negotiating with forward
If the Stars aren't going to overpay for someone else's free agents, they might as well overpay to keep their own, uh, no that's not happening either (sorry Sydor). Who cares. Hicks will still make money on both the Rangers and Stars, no matter how much he insults us fans...
Posted Tuesday June 26, 2007, About: Mets prefer Oswalt over Buehrle
Wasn't Oswalt dangled for M. Tejeda last year, and Drayton stepped in a squashed that trade? If he wasn't available last year for a proven All-Star, what makes you think that Drayton would let Timmy P. pull the trigger this year?
And Demeco, Wagner went to the Phillies via a trade from the Astros, not the Mets. He went to NYM as a Free Agent. If you talk smack, get your facts straight...
