I watched him pitch three or four times with the Loons and like I said before, he has major league stuff if he can control it. If he can't he won't make it, just like any other pitcher in the big leagues. It will certainly help Kershaw to have an above average curve ball to go with 95mph heat. He doesn't have to be perfect with his off speed stuff, just being able to throw strikes and keeping the ball around the plate will determine whether he succeeds or not. Kennedy and Hughes have decent stuff, but they are not left handed and do not posess the curve ball that Kershaw does. He is a lot like Andrew Miller. Good stuff, but needs to harness it to become successful at the big league level.

Watched him pitch last year for the Great Lakes Loons and he does have great stuff. If he can control his off speed pitches and throw them for strikes when he needs to, he will have some early success. If he can't and has to throw his fastball when he's behind in the count, he will get lit up. Pretty much like almost all the pitchers in the big leagues. When he is on, he is tough. Why not give him a shot. If he's good enough he'll stay, if not he will have gained experience and will at least know what it is like to play for the big club and have some added ambition to get back to that level again.
Posted Monday May 21, 2007, About: Would Glaus approve L.A. trade?
If Toronto can acquire any decent prospects at all, I would deal him in a second. Why not? They are going nowhere and Glaus isn't a spring chicken anymore. He does have major pop, but not much else. He has shown some injury problems of late, so if you can get a player who could start for the next ten years for you, why wouldn't they. I would hope he wouldn't veto a trade if it would allow him to enter the playoff chase. The Angels have lots to offer for him and JP would be foolish not to make a move. If he waits, he might lose out and be stuck with a large contract and an eighty win team. JP, make it happen.

He had no fastball before any surgery! The changeup can take you places, but if you can't break 85mph on your heater, your change is worthless. He was lights out at one time, but that time is gone forever. Stay retired and play golf with the money you've made.
Posted Monday May 21, 2007, About: Desperate Yanks hurrying Clemens?
I completely understand why the Yanks want to rush Clemens back onto their staff. They really suck right now. But, Clemens isn't some young pitcher on a pitch count. Does anyone really know how much pithcing he had done on his own in the last couple of months? I would think he knows himself and his arm enough to know what it is capable of right now. Do you think they would risk all the money they are spending on rushing him back? Yeah, they need him bad, but I would think they won't push him back to fast as to force an injury. I also don't think he would let them do it either. He will basically decide when he is ready to pitch. Not the Yankee brass. I would like to see him come back strong, as it is a good story. I also like the rivalry this creates. Although I don't think Clemens is needed for it. He just adds to it. Either way good luck to ya Rocket. I for one hope you have another good year in ya.
Posted Monday May 21, 2007, About: Who would Red Sox give for Harden?
Wow. Interesting comments. I would think with the way Boston's staff is right now, they may want to deal Willy Mo for a promising young pitcher that will be major league ready in a couple of years. If you look at all the winning teams, they all have solid pitching. Boston already has this right now. They won't in a couple of years with Schilling, Wakefield and who knows with Beckett. It does not take a rocket scientist to see that pitching wins in the playoffs and you can never have enough. With that being said, I would go for young pitching over Harden. You just don't know what you are going to be getting right now with him. You don't need him now and you can strengthen the teams future with one of two solid young arms who will be major league ready down the road when they will be needed. Dice K, Lester and Beckett may all be there in two years, but if you added another name to the list it sounds a lot better.

Last year he hit .253 with 113 RBI's, 92 Runs and had an OBP of .401

Not sure about any of you other guys, but he sure doesn't seem to shabby to me. I know the avg. kind of sucks, but OBP is tough. I wouldn't count him out just yet. In that lineup, he should have plenty of opportunity. He seems to be the only player with the cajones to even talk about roids and has basically admitted to doing them. He knows it was wrong, he admitted that also. I guess based on all the other guys using and him owning up to it, I guess he is seems like a straight shooter to me. Compared to pretty much everyone else using I put him in a much higher category as far as respect goes. He at least will tell it like it is.
