Saw a great game last night...Harrison Central Baseball team playing for the South State Championship and the right to play in the State Tournament. Leading 5-3 going into the bottom of the 7th, Oak Grove scored two runs and had two runners on base...guy hits a hard grounder to first and all I could think of was Bill Buckner. Fortunately it wasnt the case. Guy scoops up the grounder, touches first and bedlam ensued.
First time for this school to go to the State Finals...
One of the plays in BB is subbing a left hitting batter to face a righty pitcher. Given that scenario, I would say the pitcher has to declare first and throw at least one pitch...then they can both switch on each subsequent pitch, but once declared (pitcher steps on rubber/batter steps in batters box...again, both feet) that would be it...
Saw it over there as well. Interesting how teams come together. Was telling my neighbor about when my daughter's HS Softball won State (his son is going to play HS BB there)....the year before they had a more talented team, but they were all prima donas....and lost. The next year, my daughter's Senior season....with less talent but everyone knowing they had to all work together, they won State. Sounds like your daughters team as well...
MSST lost to Florida State and plays Miss Valley State today....
