20?! He hit 13 in 2006, and 28 in 2009. Aside from that, he's never had more than single digit totals. The problem is that contract he signed. Apparently we had another case of irrational exuberance going on... he's not, at all, a power hitter. Even his doubles totals have never been remarkable.

Hey lets try getting our facts straight before we comment. Mauer is tied for the lead league in doubles and is top 20 in slugging percentage despite the only 8 homeruns. And as for his doubles never being "remarkable" as you put it, in his career he has only had fewer than 30 doubles twice (26,27) despite only playing in about 130-140 games a year.
