Although I tend to side with those who say the Government should stay out of "the business of America"... I'm more apt to side with the Congressman on this one issue: It's NOT RIGHT to "crown" a champion of the 119 teams that make up the FBS without a fair playoff system - a REAL champion is decided on the field of play, not by pollsters and computer rankings. Pre-game rankings and ratings should only have meaning on the Vegas Betting Line. What this congressman is trying to do is FORCE the BCS conference leadership, the national sport writers, and Bowl committees to ADMIT the present system is corrupt and is begging for change. And yes, there is a way to fold all these Bowl games into a fair system involving all eleven conferences and the independent schools - to pick a REAL NATIONAL CHAMPION... not a phony imaginary one... enough said.

Sorry Skippy... you're off base on that (you must be a gold-digger)... Personal Money-making was not a big issue for Jones - he's already "set" for life in that dept. It most likely has EVERYTHING to do with the TOTAL lack of support Jones and the football program gets from the ath.dept. and the Board of Regents (U.H.). Blame Hawaii's political scene, blame Herman "the fissure", blame it on the lack of support by the U.H. student body... but don't blame Coach Jones for his "greed" as YOU see it...

Here's an interesting aside for those not in the know... only HALF of June Jone's salary comes from the Regents (University of Hawaii), which still makes him one of the HIGHEST paid public officials in the State of Hawaii - if not THE highest. The other half comes from from the Boosters. He gave his Bonus payout to his assistant coaches - sort of a "thank you for all your hard work" kind of thing. A mid to high six-figure income when you're already pretty much 'set' for life financially is pretty good... and fortunately for Hawaii - wasn't a motivating factor for Coach Jones. I think the big picture view he might have right now is WHERE to take the program from here (or what will the University Regents and ath. directors office ALLOW him to do)... Much of a Coaches job requires a great deal of insider politics... and I'm not sure June Jones likes that part of the job very much. I'm very curious to see how this whole story surrounding June Jones will play out.
