Yes the division is "weak" but the niners went 3-1 against the toughest division in the NFL and they beat the Giants. Giants played in arguably a weaker division this season and only has one signature win. DJ dismisses the Seahawks b/c they finished 7-9 but they also beat the Giants.
Really don't think either team is overrated at this point. There is a clear #1 in GB and a very close #2 in NO. The next 5-6 spots are all pretty interchangeable depending on matchups and just whos hot at the moment. Lions, niners, cowboys, Falcons, Giants, and a healthy Bears team are all pretty close.
guess I'm just spoiled as a Niner fan that I never see those 3 digit numbers you listed when trying to determine consistency. But those numbers show the same thing I was just talking about just not on as big a scale. Still going from below 50 yards to over 100 yards within a couple weeks. They have struggled against the more powerful running teams and no Harrison means no big push off the edge and allows the O-line to commit more guys to the D-line without worrying about as many blitz pickups (advantage Niners)
being 6th doesn't make them consistent. Giving up 170 in week 1 followed by 31, 97, 180, 66 is inconsistent. Thats the first 5 games and they were at 108 ypg which would be good for 13th now. Its been like that all year, they have played 3 big time backs in Rice, Foster and MJD and all 3 had big days. Depending on which Steeler run D shows up minus Harrison, it could be a good day for Gore too.
So not completeing one pass in 2 straight quarters in his last game is more indicative of his progress? Yup still horrible when teams don't play prevent against him. As soon as teams learn that all you have to do is disrupt his timing slightly by just continuing to blitz him we wont see any more "TEBOWING" heroics. When he has all day and can set his feet and make throws on time he can be very dangerous. As soon as his rhythm is disrupted he tends to be far less accurate, as his 3-16 performance through 3 quarters last week indicates. In the 4th quarter the Bears stopped attacking Tebow and went into a very soft cover 2, hence all the completions in that 4th quarter.
With that said it was absolutely warranted. He put his helmet in a defenseless QBs chin (again). 7th times a charm apparently, maybe he will learn now. Its like anything else in life. The more you screw up the same thing, the harder people will come down on you for it.
Howard very possible, with Paul they still lose. Last I checked the Knicks still have D'Antoni as a coach, which means they still don't play any defense.
Tough stance to beat, definitely would be my pick. The scheduling argument is going to be the back breaker for any other team that would hope to challenge Miami.
You 100% trade for Dwight Howard. He will be the best center in the league for the next 10 years. CP3 may not even be the top PG right now, especially with his durability issues.
Nobody voted Bama lower than 3rd, and im not saying they are cheating. But its clear that 3 teams with a vested interest in having OKst lower voted that way. Stanford coach obviously thinks his team is better so he puts OSU 4th. Bama obviously want to play in the NC so he puts them 4th as well. Mizzou wants to be a part of the conference that wins the NC (more money), so they out them 4th as well. I'm not saying any of them did anything wrong or cheated, its the system we have. But you can't deny the fact that its a conflict of interest having coaches more or less decide where their opponents rank. Leave it to the computers and the media. Still not perfect but at least it takes the conflict of interest part out of it. And no argument can be made for Stanford being better than OSU and that will prove true in the Fiesta Bowl, and this is coming from a PAC-12 guy.
BCS wont work ever until the coaches poll is removed from the scoring. When you have Nick Saban voting OKST 4th (I would too if I was him) you lose the integrity of the game. Mizzou's coach who is leaving the Big12 and now has a vested interest in the SEC also put OkSt 4th. 4 other coaches ranked OkSt lower than 3rd including one 5th place vote. Until the human emotion can be removed from the process it will never work.
So just beacuse the SEC defense won before we shouldn't allow it to happen this year. Using that logic we absolutlely shouldn't see bama vs lsu again, been there and done that.
Basically it comes down to quality of wins vs the quality of loss. Obviously Bama lost to a tougher opponent then Ok St but OkSt played the tougher schedule, played 5 current top25 teams and 7 teams that are going to bowls compared to 2 and 3 respectively for Bama.
