If he signs with another team, I doubt he'll play for more than a season, if he can stay healthy enough to even make it through the entire season. Then he'll probably sign a one-day deal with the Bears to retire as a Bear. It will be about the same as it was for Cowboys fans to watch Emmitt Smith play for the Cardinals.
I don't understand why that guy gets any run as a HC. He was lucky to have Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin to make him seem as competent as he seemed as an OC.
Rivera was spared from the Black Monday mess, but if things don't improve in Carolina, that whole coaching staff could be handing out resumes a year from now. And with a new GM in place comes the possibility that he might want to hire his own guy for the HC job, if Ron can't decisively make his case that he's the best long-term HC option.
I believe the safer bet, long-term, could be Reid.
Interesting that Arians was not picked for the Chargers HC job. A few days ago I read that he would have been open to working with the new Chargers GM, with whom Arians gets along with quite well.
Of course, "a few days ago" is almost like dog years when it comes to the NFL coaching carousel.
