Posted Friday November 06, 2009, About: White Sox looking to deal Konerko?
If they deal Konerko it better be for a reason other than making room to sign Chone Figgins. I really don't see why they want that guy. His stats aren't much better than Podsednik's, and he's a career playoff choker. I'd like to see the Sox get back to the postseason, but if Figgins is on the team it won't be any more than a one and done for them. At least Pods and Konerko showed they'll step up on the big stage.
Posted Friday November 06, 2009, About: Royals, White Sox deny trade rumors
I think the ultimate goal of any deal involving the White Sox is getting Beckham back to SS. He played an unfamiliar position last year and still had a very good year with the bat. I'm sure they figure he'll have an unbelievable year if he's playing his normal position. Alexei was a mess there last year, he just can't seem to judge the throws from SS to 1st base. But he was solid at 2nd. Teahen may be the Sox starting 3rd baseman next year, but don't put it past Kenny to acquire him this quickly to use as a pawn. He may know of another team out there that wants him and might use him as a bargaining chip to get who he really wants at 3rd.
Posted Monday October 05, 2009, About: Ozzie: Figgins too costly for Sox
I really think you can just bring Podsednik back for much less money. They don't need Figgins at 3rd because Gordon Beckham proved he can play it. And here are the numbers for Podsednik and Figgins this season: Batting Avg. Pods .304 Figgins .298, HR's Pods 7 Figgins 5, RBI's Pods 48 Figgins 54, Runs Pods 75 Figgins 114, SB Pods 30 Figgins 42. Also keep in mind Pods got a late start with the Sox. The numbers don't justify giving Figgins a big contract. And Pods has more invested with the White Sox being a World Series hero and that counts for something with the fans.
Posted Monday August 24, 2009, About: Will Cubs bench Soriano?
It really doesn't matter because the Cubs are out of it (yet again). May as well just continue to let him look like an idiot out there. You have to love that he said "I'm back" after a game against the Nationals. Shows just how stupid the guy is. What's next, an aging QB proclaiming he's back after throwing a TD against the Lions?
Posted Saturday August 08, 2009, About: Report: White Sox interested in Rios
If this is true it could unfortunately mean the end of the road for Jermaine Dye. He was the Sox player most rumored in trades anyway, and it would allow the Sox to get a little younger. However JD is producing way more, even though he's been in a slump lately. JD's option for next year is only 12 mil, so I'd rather see the Sox pony up that money and get one more year out of JD when Beckham and Getz come back even better next year. Not to mention Peavy will have a full season on the mound. Then see what options are available at RF because I'm not sold on this guy.
Posted Wednesday July 15, 2009, About: Celtics confident of retaining Big Baby
So now the Celtics will have two big men (Sheed and Big Baby) standing out on the 3 point line thinking they're Reggie Miller. Good luck with that.
Posted Tuesday July 07, 2009, About: Braun's comments upset Brewers GM
To his credit in that same article Braun said the Cubs hitters swung the bats better than the Brewers hitters as well. Ryan probably should have kept quiet, but I don't think he meant any real harm. A reporter probably caught him in the heat of the moment after that loss. But he should trust Melvin because he pulled off the C.C. trade that got them into the playoffs last year. Ryan probably has no idea what Melvin is working on, and shouldn't. His job is to go out and play baseball and play with the teammates he has.

Is this still the Cubs year? Ha Ha.
Posted Tuesday June 02, 2009, About: Agent: Peavy has nothing against White Sox
The Sox are 8-2 since Peavy turned them down. Obviously the trade talk sparked the team, and especially the pitching. Mark Buehrle is lights out, Gavin Floyd is back, and Danks is putting together some good outings. The Sox have 11 games ahead of them at home, including 5 with the Tigers. They can make a serious move in a division that will have no runaway winner. Put Peavy behind you and focus on Oswalt on this homestand so maybe the Sox can go 10-2 on the homestand. Then after that focus on Bedard and go another 8-2. Then Cliff Lee, and so on. The pitchers they have right now aren't afraid to pitch in the AL and toughness as a pitcher is a quality that can't be taught.
Posted Friday May 29, 2009, About: Source: High school grade changed for Rose
He's a great basketball player, but he must be a real idiot to not be able to pull a C on his own in a Chicago PUBLIC School. Just showing up and listening to your Ipod the whole time should be enough to get a C there.
Posted Monday May 25, 2009, About: Gasol unsure Rubio will enter draft
Good, don't come over. You need the NBA more than the NBA needs you, don't forget that. If that wasn't the case you'd stay in Europe.
Posted Saturday May 23, 2009, About: White Sox' Peavy offer still on table
The key point in this article is that it involves contract issues. Forget the B.S. about wanting to stay in the N.L., or wanting to hit, etc. These guys aren't fooling anybody. They'd play on Mars if it meant another 100 million dollars. He's trying to bring the Sox to their knees money wise, and sending a message to any other team that wants to trade for him that you better be ready to come to the table with a big contract extension. He's only 27 and has seen the contracts that Zito, Santana, C.C. have gotten and wants some of that money for himself now.
Posted Thursday April 30, 2009, About: White Sox' Owens out, Podsednik in
The White Sox have been waiting for Jerry Owens long enough. I like the guy, but he just can't hit. It would be great to have his speed on the bases, because he is quick. But in order to take advantage of your speed you have to actually get on base. He can't hit, and he can't draw walks. At least you know what you'll get with Pods. He's more disciplined at the plate and you know he can come up big in a game. Hopefully Jerry can get it going somewhere else. Maybe he needs a change of scenery. There's always the Nationals.

Try winning a game in the playoffs first, and then maybe you can play another position.
Posted Monday April 06, 2009, About: Is Thabeet tough enough for NBA?
Even though he's agile it takes him way too long to make a decision in the post. And he passes out of the post way too much because he can't do anything but dunk or lay the ball in. He also doesn't have very strong hands. I watched a game against Notre Dame and the guards were just stripping the ball away from him at will. He took about an 8-10 foot jump shot against Michigan St. that was probably one of the worst shots I've ever seen a basketball player take. He looked like it was the first time he'd ever touched a ball. If you take him you have to have a minimum of 3 guys on your team that can score, because he won't give you much on the offensive end.
Posted Saturday March 21, 2009, About: Barkley takes shots at Cleveland, Milwaukee
Well apparently he thinks people in either of those cities really care about his opinion. They don't. The guy's a loser who's tried to do everything he can to keep his name out there since he retired because really there's not much to him. Take away being born lucky enough to be able to play basketball, and what do you have? Not much. Just dreary ass Charles. A guy with no ring who gambles all his money away and cheats on his wife.
Posted Thursday March 05, 2009, About: Shaq unloads on Van Gundy
It's pretty sad to see Shaq trading words with just about anybody at the end of his career. If he wants to call out Van Gundy I guess that's okay, but he had no reason to talk about Dwight Howard. Shaq you invented his moves? Well I'm pretty sure you weren't the first person to put a ball in the basket so somebody came before you too. Did you invent the blocked shot? The rebound? You're just a basketball player Shaq, and honestly that's not that important to have that big of an ego about.
Posted Tuesday February 24, 2009, About: Why Crede left White Sox for Twins
Crede does make the spectacular play, but also check out how many errors he had made before he went down for the season. For every great play he makes on the field be prepared to see a ball get by him. I wish the guy the best because he helped the Sox win the World Series, but the Sox couldn't afford to pay him the money he wanted for a 3rd baseman that can't make it past June/July.
Posted Saturday January 03, 2009, About: Has McGrady quit on Rockets?
Just another example of a guy who never reached his full potential because he just refused to work. He's partly to blame, but the NBA has to share some of the blame. When you keep getting big contracts and not working harder, what motivation is there? In the real world you work hard to get promotions and raises. In the NBA the word "potential" goes a long way toward what you will make, even if you never reach that potential.

How quickly everyone forgets that just before last season's big trades he wanted a one way ticket the hell out of Boston.
Posted Thursday December 11, 2008, About: Bryant lashes out at Emmitt, Dilfer
ESPN has to stop giving every ex-player a job on TV. Trent Dilfer says so many things that should get him fired immediately. These players have to just laugh at getting criticized by a guy who couldn't get his own career right. I love hearing him criticize QB's. He should have taken his own advice when he played and he wouldn't have sucked so bad.
