I'm sure you meant Rhodes scholar. Bad to bash somebody for their obvious lack of intelligence when you can't spell correctly. :O
Posted Sunday May 03, 2009, About: Texans owner puts Kubiak on hot seat
I agree that the Texans are better because of Kubiak. He implemented an offensive line attack that has helped them run the football. And hey, you draft at the top of the line each year, get better and then move down the draft as you get better. They started off last year with one of the most difficult schedules for the first 4 games. That set them back quite a bit.
They lost to Oakland because they thought more of themselves than they should have.

They still need another legit WR to help take the pressure off Johnson and Daniels. Slaton is a handful and was their best draft pick for the pick (3rd round, >1000 yds as a rookie).....can you say "thanks God the Texans DIDN'T draft Reggie Bush?"

They drafted a DE to help free up Mario but still need some LB's as well as both FS and SS. They won't make the playoffs this year, but that is due more to their conference than anything else. In the AFC West, they're the second best team.

Oh and to all of you who say "this kid is not an NFL QB". Uh, what do you do for a living?

Because I would probably be inclined to agree with the people that make a career out of studying tape and deciding who is or is not an NFL QB. Now, do people make mistakes? Yeah. But most of the time the problem is that they draft a rookie QB who has no offensive line and they start them early. The guys who get to sit while a team is built for them succeed more often than not.
Posted Sunday May 03, 2009, About: Roach: Hatton's camp already making excuses
They keep talking Mayweather Jr. vs Manny but it won't happen.

Mayweather only fights sluggers and over the hill bums. He ran from Oscar cause he was scared of his power, he beat Hatton because Hatton is a straight ahead slugger with NO DEFENSE.

Manny would kill Mayweather. KO by round 9, because he could actually chase Mayweather down and force him to fight. Mayweather doesn't have the power to KO Manny and everyone knows it.....including Floyd!

Houston has been in the league 10 years. Their first few years were shot because they were stupid in drafting a QB and having NO offensive line. They have slowly gotten a line started, have a decent QB (if he can stay healthy), you have a great RB in Slaton and need another back to compliment him, a great receiver, good tight end and a developing defense.

And 50, it could be a worse. You could be the Cowboys and have everybody think you're great because of your talent, only to blow up year end and year out.....just saying.

Notes: Baseball catcher and football quarterback in high school who was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 18th round of the June 1995 baseball draft. Opted for football and redshirted at Michigan in ???95. Saw limited action in ???96 and ???97 and started the past two years. Completed 3-of-5 passes for 26 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in ???96, 12-15-103-0-0 in ???97, 214-350-2,636-15-12 in ???98 and 180-295-2,216-16-6 in ???99, when he often shared time with super sophomore Drew Henson. Went all the way against Alabama in the Orange Bowl and completed 34-46-369-4. Unlike many Michigan quarterbacks, Brady is a pocket-type passer who plays best in a dropback-type system.

Positives: Good height to see the field. Very poised and composed. Smart and alert. Can read coverages. Good accuracy and touch. Produces in big spots and in big games. Has some Brian Griese in him and is a gamer. Generally plays within himself. Team leader.

Negatives: Poor build. Very skinny and narrow. Ended the ???99 season weighing 195 pounds and still looks like a rail at 211. Looks a little frail and lacks great physical stature and strength. Can get pushed down more easily than you???d like. Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush. Lacks a really strong arm. Can???t drive the ball down the field and does not throw a really tight spiral. System-type player who can get exposed if he must ad-lib and do things on his own.

That was the scouting report for Tom Brady.

All I'm saying is, until you give someone a chance, you don't know what they can or cannot do.

Mike Vick is 6' tall and weighed in at 205lbs in his first start. White will be a minimum of 200lbs on opening day, and he won't have to start for 2-3 years. That is plenty of time to add a little more weight and learn a system. Don't say, yeah well White is no Brady, because until Drew the statue got hurt, Brady wasn't Brady. The point is, until he was given a chance, nobody knew what he could do. Give White a fair shake and if he fails as a QB, make him a receiver.

Just saying.
Posted Sunday May 03, 2009, About: Dolphins: White will only play QB
Mike Vick was 6' and 205 when he started
Drew Brees is only 6'

Pat White is presently 6' and 193 (at the combine, I believe that was his height/weight).

He'll be atleast 200lbs before the season starts. He won't be the starter this year. So, if he is at the same height/weight as Mike Vick, he is a more accurate passer than Vick (by college numbers, obviously no NFL stats yet for White) then WHY won't he be a starter?
Posted Wednesday April 22, 2009, About: Cardinals: No offers for Boldin
If you pay $40,000 for a Ford Focus then you could be part of the President's bailout program.

Just Kidding. Boldin's price is to high and nobody will meet that. The best they can hope for is probably a #1 this year and a lower round pick this year or next. The Niners could use him but I don't see him staying within the division. The Giants, Titans, Bucs, Dolphins, Texans and Browns could all take a legitimate shot with some type of package for the Cards to consider.
Posted Thursday April 02, 2009, About: Broncos now eyeing Sanchez?
Denver sends Cutler to the Browns for the #5 pick, the Browns send Quinn to San Fran. San Fran then sends the #43 pick and Alex Smith to the Broncos. So the Broncos get #5, #43 and Smith. Smith gets traded on draft day or right before to the Lions, Panthers etc for a #3 pick with the potential to increase to a #2 if certain benchmarks are met.

This was my post referred to by the dumb guy, or is it Who Says I'm dumb?

Anyways, he thought I said Cutler to Cleveland for San Frans #43 and Smith. How he got that I don't know. Especially since that would mean that San Fran paid for Clevelands trade. Anyways. I think that a #1, #2 and Smith for Cutler is the best deal that Denver would see. Denver could draft Sanchez with #5, and still have 3 picks in the first 2 rounds in which to improve on defense.

Cutler to San Francisco, Shaun Hill traded to the Pats for a 3rd rounder. Smith takes a back cut to be a backup and never see the starter spot in SF again (that's nice of him).
Posted Tuesday March 17, 2009, About: Three teams in line for Cutler?
I agree that the Niners would be in the best position for Cutler. Detroit has so many needs and I think they want to wait until the more QB rich draft comes next year. You have Culpepper in place and Stranton to get you threw till next year. You have a great receiver, up and coming RB's but need help on the O-line and Defense. Keep Culpepper and let him get killed while you build your O-line. Draft some defensive depth, pick up additionals in FA next year and draft your QB with a core O-line in place.

As for the Niners, Cutler makes the most sense. Smith dropped his salary and that gives you a decent back up, trade for Cutler, then trade Shaun Hill to a team that needs a good backup (Pats?) and continue to develop a core of young talent around what I hope will be a good head coach.

Ok, look at it from a different perspective. Say you're hired onto a job and they need a committment of 2 years (I have seen it happen although nowadays it is rare). You sign on and the next year your career field goes through a high need. Your peers are now making $5.00 an hour more than you are. You like your company, want to stay, but $10,000 a year more would help your family. What do you do? Do you stay the year at a lower rate, knowing that the field could see a decline the following year and you would loose $10,000? Or, do you go to your employer and let them know that you would like to be compensated at the rate of your peers?
Posted Tuesday March 10, 2009, About: Galloway to Steelers?
uhhhhh.....not sure if this bears noting, but have you seen Mendenhall? Parker? Bueller? Anyone? There running game is fine. Mendenhall went out with a fx shoulder blade (I believe) due to a pretty hard hit but should return and be just fine. Parker seemed to be fine once he got healthy. RB isn't the issue as much as the O-line is. No O-line=no holes=no rushing yards (unless you're Barry Sanders). So the major issue I agree would be to retool the O-line. Would like to see them go after Khaliff Barnes (I don't think he signed yet, could be wrong) and that would give them help at offensive tackle. You can draft a lineman as well. Pick up Holt or Galloway in free agency leaves you to pick up O-line in the draft and develop them.
Posted Tuesday March 10, 2009, About: Galloway to Steelers?
Couldn't agree more. If I am looking at a receiver I am looking at Torry Holt. He will be traded or released by the end of the week to avoid paying him his roster bonus. This gives the Steelers a better possession receiver who still has some gas in the tank. The problem is that there are other teams in the league that need a #2 guy and Holt may be more enticed to go there. I could see Holt land in Houston opposite Johnson. But I would prefer it if the Steelers grabbed him.

In regards to Sweed.....look, T.O. drops easy passes. We need to give Sweed the chance to learn the offense and develop a little. He made some great clutch catches at Texas and with some work can develop into the threat that the Steelers envisioned when they drafted him. His size presents mismatched in the redzone and that is a plus. We NEED him to develop.

Convert him to an OLB then.
Posted Monday March 09, 2009, About: Agent: Teams interested in Roy Williams
He is better than any safety Houston has. They should check him out. As long as you don't ask Roy to cover all the time he is a good player to come up and stop the run. Plus he can still hit folks across the middle as well as any safety can.
