Absolutely concur. If he can do it, he can do it; if he can't, he can't. So many people seem to have wanted to bury him for years. All the comments about his range would lead you to believe he is costing the Yankees several games per season defensively. I wonder if anyone has any stats or other evidence to support that.

I don't think the problem is Mattingly either. I can't say I've seen him make bad managerial decisions. He knows baseball, and he had Joe Torre as a mentor for several years. The season is still young.

"He stays in Tent City from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily." So what's his schedule? When is he doing all this cleanup and volunteer work, in middle of the night? I suspect he checks in just before 6 p.m., eats dinner shortly thereafter and then probably crashes not long after that. He then gets up in time to go home at 6 a.m.

More injuries, more players on the DL, it just goes on. And yet the Yankees have thus far been able to hold it together. Granted the season is way young, but I can't help but be impressed.

I didn't see this coming. When he initially broke his ankle, I figured he'd re-hab like a madman and be FMC by spring training. I had no idea it was that serious or complicated.
