Nothing is static. Everything changes. Thus, you're likely wrong here, at least in the case of the Browns, who are now clearly coming into contender status. SIX Pro Bowl players, FIVE All Pro (remains same now, i.e., Dansby for Ward). Finishing 4-12 and losing the last eight games with that amount of talent was rightfully doom for Chudzinski, et al. The Jags were 4-12 with NO Pro-Bowlers. Cleveland is a couple players (with TEN picks this year) and a stable staff from perennial contention. The rebuilding is done. Watch and see. Jacksonville just gave Cleveland the longterm deal with Mack that the Browns had been unable to reach with him without him having the opportunity to test his value. They'll very likely match it, and Mack will still be a Brown long term. Franchise tag would not have allowed this to happen.

As much as I am tired of all the bullfeces of the last 15 years, I gotta think/hope you're right. Haslem seems serious, and without tolerance for failure. Love it. You have some sort of excuse? Really? GTFO. They've got some talent, FINALLY, on both sides of the ball. When have the Brownies had five All-Pros in the recent past? Never, I think. They need a serious QB; Hoyer will start for now, but not in 2 years. I hafta think that if he's gonna spend a billion on a toy, he's not gonna hesitate to fire any- and everyone who's not fulfilling the mission. Banner and Lombardi probably shouldn't get comfortable, yet.

Ah FN...all haters, all the time. A group of armchair Lombardis, with slack jaws, small junk (truly a twig-and-berries crowd), microcephalic profiles, limited social skills, and a collective intellect once classified in medical textbooks as that of the "moron". Well, my sniveling, Beavis & Butthead emulating friends, the tide may be about to turn. This storied franchise (I know, it was before YOU - except for the guy with the YA Tittle avatar- were born) is about to rise from the ashes of its long purgatory. Serious owner (FINALLY), serious, PROVEN, football coaches and front office people around him. My only hopes are that Haslem is not forced to sell, which doesn't seem likely with Goodell's new ringing endorsement (Prison? Really? That's for underlings.), and that the CBs can hold onto Ray Horton past this year. They're not gonna take home the trophy this year, but an offseason or two like this one and they are GOOD.

Nonstory.

Totally agree. I think that he's talking about what the top (bottom) ten teams will do, based on what they need. I don't think he's saying Milliner is not one of the ten best players coming out of CFB.

Mind you this coming from a Browns fan. I hope they take the boy, if he's available. I'd love to see him paired with Joe Haden. Barring that, I'd like to take a flyer on Chance Warmack.

The man was a great LB. He played with rage, and always arrived with intent to kill. He's not a head coach. Too excitable, to the point of irrationality.

I notice the usual sort of haters here, with some 34K+ comments between them. The least hateful is the one with the least comments, which says a lot. In this life, there are many who just enjoy hearing themselves talk, or at least seeing their own comments in print, i.e., they couldn't care less about actual intelligent conversation, or even dialogue other than mudslinging. Fellas, do yourselves a favor, and submit for at least local, or even national election, because you all look, and smell like politicians. You know who I mean. Those who resemble a pretty pink rose, but have a rather fecal aura, and periodically spew semisolid waste. You might be a celebrated American Hero, a bona fide Historical Figure. Otherwise, get a life. You are at sore risk of becoming sad little trolls, dropping mundane comments on threads regarding teams that you care nothing about, in the hopes of being perceived as witty by your fellow trolls...
Posted Sunday August 19, 2012, About: Report: Jenny McCarthy, Urlacher break up
Won't dispute your omniscience on sports matters, but on this one your analogy is way off base. The AMA (which in no way speaks for the majority of physicians in this country, as less than 20% belong) didn't pay anyone's salary to disprove Andrew Wakefield altered his data and presented fraudulent research in a scheme to get paid. What's more, he's a Brit, presented his findings in a Brit journal, and has been stricken from the register, i.e., lost his license, in GB. Unfortunately, Jenny McCarthy is OUR ninny. No attempt to further an agenda here, other than the public good. Urlacher's no rocket scientist, but she's a thick-headed menace, who has used her celebrity to try to undermine public safety. I understand her anguish at having a less than perfect child, but that doesn't excuse her own idiocy. And yes, I'm aware that it's not only Ms McCarthy that BELIEVES there is a link between vaccines and autism, but that's not PROOF. There is overwhelming proof, however, that vaccines prevent potentially fatal childhood diseases. She needs to admit that she is wrong to continue to support a false assertion, and to stop trying to convince others to put their children at risk.

Uh, no, she doesn't. They're just dumb. She's dumb AND a menace to society with her B S, long-disproven claptrap about a link between vaccinations and autism. Honestly don't know how she sleeps at night.
Posted Sunday July 15, 2012, About: Gordon denies failing third drug test
Big story of the day: college kid got high! BFD. Not like he was slinging smack to elementary school students. Some of these comments make me wonder how many of the commentators got stoned today before they got behind a computer screen to trash this kid. That was then and this is now. Either he gets that or he doesn't. We'll see.
Posted Saturday July 14, 2012, About: Browns see Gordon as a starter
Thank you. The kid is raw, but obviously has talent. "Drug issues"? Really? A 20 yo kid got nailed a couple of times smoking pot; obviously he's related to Pablo Escobar? He was a 20 yo nitwit. News flash: ALL 20 yo males are nitwits! We'll see, but it looks to me like the Browns just got better, and isn't that what matters?
Posted Sunday April 29, 2012, About: Holmgren: Vikings didn't dupe Browns
In any case, Cleveland's draft thinking makes perfect sense to me. I know a lot of people are PO'd that they didn't take a marquee WR, but I (and obviously Holmgren & Co) don't really think that has been the problem...
Posted Sunday April 29, 2012, About: Holmgren: Vikings didn't dupe Browns
The Browns "does" now, or should. Right tackle spot has been weak, which is why they drafted a right tackle. They've had the best left tackle in the league for a few years now.
Posted Sunday April 29, 2012, About: Holmgren: Vikings didn't dupe Browns
Not so sure about that. They picked the biggest arm in the draft, albeit a 28 yo arm, that can throw a 96 mph fastball. Then they picked a little sprinter, who could likely 100 yd dash to death any DB in the league. They've picked 75 or so other WRs in the last few years; I presume that at least a few of them can catch and run short routes. Not saying that they just became the best passing offense in the NFL, but I think they very likely just got better.
Posted Thursday March 29, 2012, About: Browns eyeing Tannehill
Lotta pinheads here talking about stuff that is pure speculation, at best, in regards o a franchise that they know nothing about. I'll pimp my granny ta throat yer knob if they take this guy at #4, i.e., not happening. All the hater BS will go nowhere. I guarantee one thing...that Holmes and Heckert know more about pro football than any of the commenters here. We'll see...I think CMcC will be OK, not an All-Pro, but OK next year. They need a few skill-position players, but they've been laying bedrock for a year (4 starters last draft) that has panned out.
Posted Tuesday March 13, 2012, About: Browns could set sights on Flynn
They probably mean Akili Smith, Cinci=Cleveland, in the same way that people on the coasts think that Ohio=Iowa. This is what I'm saying. Non-Browns fans seem to have this perception that Cleveland repeatedly picks QBs in the top 5, only to have them fail. While the Browns have been consistently bad since '99, the only top-pick bust QB prospect that I remember the Browns drafting was Couch. Quinn might be considered a borderline case in that regard. Nobody thought that McCoy was a sure-fire NFL QB, as I remember. He's simply a real good college QB that was worth a shot. I still don't think that he's a total bust, either.

And as far as this goes, the only "highly-touted" QB prospect that I remember the Browns drafting and then going teats-up was Couch. I guess it depends on your definition of "highly-touted".
Posted Monday March 12, 2012, About: Browns could set sights on Flynn
I think that most probably give too much credit/blame to Holmgren for player evaluation and selection here. You don't hear fans talking about a NFL organization's president in regards to players selected in FA or the draft, except when it comes to the Browns. Sure, I think he's involved. He oversees and signs off on everything, I'm sure, but he's not the GM...Heckert is, and he's got a pretty good track record. Yeah, they had one less win last year than the year before, and the offense clearly stunk, but I would argue that they were a better team than the year before. In a lot of those games that they lost, they didn't lose by much. They were much more competitive, and the defense was surprisingly stout, especially when you consider that they were on the field so much. They need another year or two.
