Buckeyes aren't eligible. However, if they were.... I wonder where they would be in the BCS standings. #1? #2? or lower (the AP has them #4 vs. 'Bama at #2). The Big 10 isn't exactly loading the BCS poll with teams like the SEC does (2 for the Big 10 v. 7 for the SEC and 6 of those in the top 12)
Alabama absolutely deserves to play for the National Championship should they win out. This entire season they have been dominant. With the exception of 1 quarter....... 1 QUARTER ..... Alabama has owned the gridiron. Yes, they won at LSU late in the game but great teams win games like that. EVERY team endures a rough game enroute to a title. There are no cakewalks and ESPECIALLY in the SEC.
Not sure if you even read your argument but Bonds is hated because of Bonds. Pure "holier than thou" arrogance is his trademark. Even NOW when he's facing jail time, he's even more defiant. He was a lock HOFer before moving to SF and playing for BALCO...er...the Giants. But being that good, with the pedigree he had, wasn't good enough. He had to cheat. Many of the others that cheated came clean about it (Sosa, McGuire, Pettite, Giambi, etc.) But Bonds still denies. So he deserves the hatred he gets. If Clemens is found to have lied to Congress, he can share a cell with Bonds as far as I'm concerned.
"Coulda" "Woulda" "Shoulda" ...... Colts lost. Move on. I had to deal with it last year when the Jets gave the Colts the game. Your turn.
They won a HUGE game on the Road against a team that not only trash talks, taunts and shows up their opponent, but rubs it in in a 45 - 3 game and you expected the Jets to walk off the field as if they had just read the Wall Street Journal and are carrying brief cases? GET REAL!!!
BTW..... if you are going to call it..... call it both ways. Patriots were EQUALLY as "classless" (as you put it) after that game. Walking off without shaking hands (ala Belichik). The ONLY player I heard give accolades to the Jets for their play was Wes Welker. The rest were about how bad they played. Even Belichik (no surprise) wouldn't admit that the Jets simply outmanned and outplayed the Pats.
Classless? Do you mean like walking off the field without shaking your opponents hand? (See Patriots after loss yesterday). Do you mean pointing your finger at the opposing teams bench (see taunting in NFL rule book) after throwing a TD pass leading a 38 - 3 game?
Ryan is Ryan and has been for 2 years with the Jets. Fast fact for ya.... since joining the Jets, Ryan is 24-13.....Belichik 24-11 overall and playing the same comp. Also, Ryan 4 - 1 in the playoffs ALL ON THE ROAD.....Belichik 0 - 2 BOTH AT HOME.
I would agree to a point. There is a comfort in going with someone that knows the ropes. Problem is that many of them know the ropes because they are on them their entire NFL career. Sometimes fresh ideas and new approaches are in order. Additionally, unproven or first time coaches don't USUALLY command a TON of $$$....until they win. I don't envy the NYJ Front office when Rex's contract expires, if he keeps winning. There are exceptions but Garrett, Frazier are not going to get a boatload of cash until they prove their worth as a head coach.
Having McCoy, who's shown flashes of brilliance on the field...along with flashes of being a real rookie, would be enticing. Especially since he'd be in his second year. Wonder if that might be a little interesting to Cowher....especially if they could sign a mentor QB for McCoy....OR.... Have the Browns trade with Tennessee sending McCoy for Young. Just a thought.
Holmgren needs to stay where he is and look to the likes of Cowher or Gruden. SF will probably land Harbaugh. Dallas looks to be locked on Garrett. The jury is out on Chizik. Let's see how Auburn does once Newton goes pro. Kelly might be a decent fit in Oakland. Tressel needs to stay at OSU. My .02
