what are 3 things that were last relevant in the 80s?

I doubt they'll have 2 losses, but yes, unless the qb situation unravels there, I can't see ND winning that one. I'd love to be wrong, but I just don't see it.

*pants-pooping, i was going for pants-pooping.

I see a clear loss at USC and two question marks w/ BC and MSU (both always play ND tough)...but then it's a pretty big stretch for me to see any other L's absent a complete pants-**** effort against some fairly weak teams.

That said, I think 8 wins gets him the boot.

Just out of curiosity...where do you see the four losses coming from?

Posted Saturday February 28, 2009, About: Finchem defends Northern Trust's spending
The main point is that this bank in particular (obviously not every one) did not need TARP funding. They paid for the event using normal operating funds - not taxpayer dollars.

I do agree with your previous post, that fear impoverishes many. Clearly in this case, fear has caused an intellectual poverty on the part of most that forbids them from analyzing the actual situation. It may be true in some cases, but clearly not this one. Resorting to the "us vs. the fat-cats who are stealing my tax dollars" is self-serving and lazy.
Posted Friday February 27, 2009, About: Finchem defends Northern Trust's spending
Absolutely. Where do individuals who preside over the largest deficits in the history of the world get off telling others how to use their money. Last I checked, Barney Frank and his moronic policies have resulted in more lost wealth than any businessman dragged before him to bear witness to his grandstanding.
Posted Friday February 27, 2009, About: Finchem defends Northern Trust's spending
He's absolutely right - the bank is well capitalized and made a solid amount of money in FY08. Moreover, they didn't request government funds, but rather agreed to take them in light of the government's goal to achieve 100% participation amongst the banks in this program. They didn't need that money. And if they didn't face a penalty for doing so within the 3 year window, they could/probably would repay the Treasury tomorrow.

This class warfare b.s. needs to stop and people need to look at underlying facts before spitting off knee-jerk reactions about things they refuse to make an effort to understand. Getting pissed at people making money is not going to curb unemployment, I promise you.

Irish fan/alum...can't stand Chuck. I don't think this really matters to be honest. If anything, there's even more on Weis' shoulders, enough hopefully to run him out when he inevitably f's everything up. Go Urban beat fat Chuck.
Posted Monday January 05, 2009, About: Will Bulls dump troublemaker Noah?
You don't just pick up an offensive game in the NBA. If you're still struggling with it by the time you're in your 20's, it's not going to happen. Noah makes Tyson Chandler look like KG on the offensive end.

Having heart is respectable (I guess), but after a while, trying really hard should probably be a given, not something you get credit for.

Well done...tough to argue with such a well thought-out argument.
Posted Wednesday November 26, 2008, About: Sources: Weis' buyout smaller than expected
That's not an entirely objective point. They have more talent in their local area, but ND recruits nationally and despite their lack of on the field results, has had success doing so.

Even the biggest (no pun intended) Chuck haters acknowledge that the man can recruit (he just can't develop). As far as boosters, student support, facilities, quality of the university, sports environment, etc., I think you'd be hard-pressed to argue UF trumps ND.

Weather-wise...you win. And your actual team is better.
Posted Wednesday November 26, 2008, About: Sources: Weis' buyout smaller than expected
Aside from the weather thing, I'm not sure that I'd give UF the nod over ND for any of those. That's not saying the weather alone wouldn't do it for me (and the quality of the actual team)...

Katie - a little advice here: don't worry about lengthy responses to people like that guy. I promise you you're wasting your time. Go Irish.

I once saw Kuntz push a girl during bookstore basketball, then threaten a kid that was approximately half his size. Needless to say, he's a great guy.

Ron Artest...the voice of wisdom.

Seriously though, when this guy starts giving you sound advice, all signs point to you being on the verge of a cataclysmic, Tyson (Artest?) type collapse.
Posted Tuesday September 16, 2008, About: Ozzie plays disrespect card
That was me who pointed it out, and it wasn't bragging, it was just stating a fact. How many people attend a team's games has nothing to do with anything (with the exception being the need to feel better than everybody if you're from a certain fan base).

Somebody (probably you) said nobody goes, I implied that several people do in fact go, you apparently take the statement of fact as a boastful behavior and now I'm forced to clarify an already clear point. That's all.
Posted Tuesday September 16, 2008, About: Ozzie plays disrespect card
The Sox averaged about 33,000 last year and they didn't win 90 games - they lost 90 games. That's just a silght difference, but I would hardly condemn the fans for leaving 7,000 seats a game empty.
Posted Tuesday September 16, 2008, About: Ozzie plays disrespect card
Sox bring out more than 30k a game...not the 40k Wrigley gets, but I think you need to give up on the "Sox fans don't go to the games" thing just as badly as Ozzie needs to give up on the "Cubs get more coverage" thing.
