I can give you one biting reason the team had problems. Some players taking the shortcut and not giving it all. If a new coach can fix that than let him try.
So the new owners of the team, if the NHL sells, want to control and manage the Jobing.com arena. Would you? It's been a losing proposition for years. No serious fan base. Come on, Bettman, Quebec awaits you. Hamilton awaits you. Even Seattle awaits you.
The little Padawan has become a master! I hate to put thoughts into hit posts because it's still a miss. If every team scored on half their misses the midget would be happy because every team will be the 80's Oilers!
R., They were talking about firing Claude after the 6th game of the Leafs, and even talking about it during the 7th game! Now he's gold. The Pens problems have less to do with Dan and more with the players. There is no way guys like Crosby and Malkin couldn't get good scoring opportunities and bury the puck.
The problems with the Pens has less to do with Disco Dan and more to do with the people in the locker room when Dan's not around. You can tell players don't like each other (Crosby and Malkin, for instance) and that affects the whole team. Dan will go, but not for the right reasons.
PFDWI - Tough loss for your boys. I thought they played their best game of the series. Nothing to be upset at when it comes to effort last night. There could be a long thread about underacheivers for both sides (think Seguin) but Malkin with 21 attempts and 10 shots - he's trying.
With "Helm" at the helm of the ship, "Cleary" skies, and a big "White" sail to carry the wind beneath their "wings" maybe they can "Kindl" some emotion and "Eaves" their pain with another Cup!
If you're in Montreal this could have been a visit to the local police station, a federal inquiry, and 17 personal injury lawsuits from fans who were injured when they paid good money to see hockey and were upset when they really saw hockey.
In this cap era all teams will have this problem, but the same can be said for PIT... especially PIT. With 27% tied up in two players and a need for more a solid defense corps and a look see for a more solid goalie they don't have much room. Look for the B's to part ways with Horton and a couple older defenseman. Maybe even Kelly or Peverly.
Let's see; a cup 4 years ago, first place in the Eastern division for how many years, favorites (or at least one of the favorites) for the Stanley Cup the last 5 years, and a team with 1/4 of their payroll locked up in two players, and you are not happy with the coach? I think he's doing a pretty good job.
Come on, Bettman, Quebec awaits you. Hamilton awaits you. Even Seattle awaits you.
Yes, it's late.
Comment on B's win - I thought PIT played a great 3 periods but as OT came the B's started getting their game back. Let's see what happens in game 4!
