There are, however, many teams in the NFL that have never won even one Superbowl. Are we to think, therefore, that none of those teams have ever been good (Seahawks, Eagles, Cardinals, Panthers, Falcons, etc. etc.)? No. Some of those franchises have earned the respect of their fans without ever getting a Superbowl ring.
The fans continue to support those teams because they play well. We could very well see the Saints finally win it all this year and their fans, right now, are getting treated to some good football (Vikes fans too). Yes, some might say that the teams are mismanaged or poorly run but on the other hand some are just happy to see good quality football on Sunday.
That's what I want from the Redskins. The record, the accolades, and the kudos are for other people to speculate about- I want to see some quality football. Give me that and we'll worry about the rest later.
Snyder should fire Cerrato yesterday and then get onboard that expensive private jet of his and fly around the country interviewing every available GM. When not interviewing GMs, visit with a select group of reputable owners; not JJ in Dallas, not Davis in Oakland, not Bidwell in Arizona. Find those owners that best represent their fans. This would do two necessary things; it would get Snyder out of Redskins Park, Fedex Field and out of DC; it also would allow Snyder to do the only thing he really knows how to do; run the business.
Since that makes SENSE, though, let's not hold our breath.
Turner, Schottenheimer, Spurrier, Williams, Gibbs... all relatively respected football coaches and none had success in Snyderball Incorporated. Why? Because Snyder and his pooch Cerrato are worthless. They have no business being anywhere near a football field, team, or locker room.
Everyone in the NFL knows it.
Put that team under the control of Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato and we would be exactly where we are right now, or worse. Daniel Snyder is Al Davis without the pedigree. He is Bill Bidwell without the luck. He is Georgia Frontiere's dim-wit little brother.
Zorn and Campbell might not be the answer but at not point in their tenure as owner/lackey have Snyder and Cerrato done anything to move the Redskins franchise forward. Redskins faithful are, rightly so, exasperated with this team but it isn't all the team's doing. They are exasperated because they are tired of seeing this same story play itself out over and over again, season after season.
I don't like the move but that's the business.

We, again, were in the mix with a storied national team. For Howard to think that any referee would be unbiased, in Azteca, with Mexico facing elimination, against us shows - I'm sorry - a lack of understanding of the game. It's like we were the prosecution against Mexico's legal defense. We had to prosecute with extreme conviction and leave no doubt (to be better in everything) while Mexico needed only to raise doubts (be mediocre) in order to win. We needed to be faster, stronger, and smarter to win this game. We weren't smarter.
That being said - we did show grit, more than I've seen in the past. I really liked that. We didn't back down. We got in some faces when we needed to and we let it be known that we were not going to be intimidated neither physically or mentally. I like that toughness and if we would have continued more creatively during the game the result would have been different - even with a stilted referee.
Any of these ring a bell, Mike? "Babe" Laufenberg, Drew Henson, Chad Hutchinson, Quincy Carter.
I guarantee everyone here that Coach Bob is tired of losing in Azteca Stadium.
I further guarantee everyone here that Coach Bob wants to win this game, badly.
I also guarantee everyone here that Coach Bob has read his Sun Tzu; "So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a thousand battles without a single loss."
Aguirre and the Tri looked good but they have no earthly idea of what is coming to Azteca Stadium in two weeks. Just like the Spanish National team had no idea of what to expect and just like the Brazilians got the scare of their lives as well.
We on the other hand, have seen a really good preview of what to expect in Azteca and we have given players who would not otherwise get international experience a taste of serious competition. Better to lose the Gold Cup, learn a lot, and qualify in Azteca than to tire our Boys out, learn nothing, and be unprepared for El Tri and their 100,000+ fans who hate us.
So you're the boss and everything everyone has tried to do in your company has been a failure since you've taken over. Any guesses as to what that means, sports fans?
It means you, the boss, are the problem.
