Posted Friday January 08, 2010, About: Beckham: Wish I never left United
He??s 100% correct. He should have never left ManU. Did Becks have the sack to actually say, "I did it for the money and the fame" or not? My guess is not.

This might be, also, a veiled swipe at the MLS and even perhaps at Landon. Beck??s ego certainly hasn??t gotten over that debacle yet.

In any case, Becks is so much easier to appreciate as a player when he keeps his mouth shut.

Posted Monday October 26, 2009, About: Why Redskins stuck with Zorn
As a Redskins fan it has always struck me as funny how Snyder wants to build a dynasty-style football team; the Steelers of the 70s, the 49ers of the late 80s, the 'Boys of the early 90s, and most recently the Pats.

There are, however, many teams in the NFL that have never won even one Superbowl. Are we to think, therefore, that none of those teams have ever been good (Seahawks, Eagles, Cardinals, Panthers, Falcons, etc. etc.)? No. Some of those franchises have earned the respect of their fans without ever getting a Superbowl ring.

The fans continue to support those teams because they play well. We could very well see the Saints finally win it all this year and their fans, right now, are getting treated to some good football (Vikes fans too). Yes, some might say that the teams are mismanaged or poorly run but on the other hand some are just happy to see good quality football on Sunday.

That's what I want from the Redskins. The record, the accolades, and the kudos are for other people to speculate about- I want to see some quality football. Give me that and we'll worry about the rest later.
Posted Monday October 19, 2009, About: Cerrato tied to Zorn's fate
Firing Zorn now and ditching Cerrato later is exactly the opposite of what The Itsy Bitsy Snyder should do. Snyder should write off this season, no matter what Zorn and the Redskins do. Zorn was Snyder's hand-picked replacement for Joe Gibbs so at least give him the season and at the end of it; make the call. Improvement? Winning record? Dramatic turnaround? Stay. More embarrassment? Pathetic record? Collapse? Go.

Snyder should fire Cerrato yesterday and then get onboard that expensive private jet of his and fly around the country interviewing every available GM. When not interviewing GMs, visit with a select group of reputable owners; not JJ in Dallas, not Davis in Oakland, not Bidwell in Arizona. Find those owners that best represent their fans. This would do two necessary things; it would get Snyder out of Redskins Park, Fedex Field and out of DC; it also would allow Snyder to do the only thing he really knows how to do; run the business.

Since that makes SENSE, though, let's not hold our breath.

Cowgirls.
Posted Monday October 12, 2009, About: Redskins owner approached Shanahan
So what should it say to a businessman (chuckle) like Snyder that no one wants to work for him?

Turner, Schottenheimer, Spurrier, Williams, Gibbs... all relatively respected football coaches and none had success in Snyderball Incorporated. Why? Because Snyder and his pooch Cerrato are worthless. They have no business being anywhere near a football field, team, or locker room.

Everyone in the NFL knows it.
Posted Monday October 12, 2009, About: Redskins sabotaging Zorn?
Take DNA samples from Landry, Gibbs, Madden, Parcells, Shula and Jones to create the next Redskins coach; then take DNA samples from Staubach, Marino, Montana, Brady, Moon, and McNair to create the next Redskins quarterback; ressurect the Hogs; pick any NFC East defense from the 80s or 90s not named the the Cardinals.

Put that team under the control of Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato and we would be exactly where we are right now, or worse. Daniel Snyder is Al Davis without the pedigree. He is Bill Bidwell without the luck. He is Georgia Frontiere's dim-wit little brother.

Zorn and Campbell might not be the answer but at not point in their tenure as owner/lackey have Snyder and Cerrato done anything to move the Redskins franchise forward. Redskins faithful are, rightly so, exasperated with this team but it isn't all the team's doing. They are exasperated because they are tired of seeing this same story play itself out over and over again, season after season.

It's been proven in every sport, you have to be reliable for your team in order to improve your team. Anitcs, drama, and vendettas do not win football matches.
Posted Thursday August 27, 2009, About: United, Bayern linked to Robben
I cannot agree less with this move, it is second only to sending Sneijder to Inter in stupidity. However, this is part of Florentino's desire to reshape the organization's image. In sending Robben and Sneijder to excellent clubs, both qualified for Champs, prior to the World Cup, at least Florentino is showing a bit of class at the same time he's foregoing quality players like Robben and Sneijder in order to keep less talented players like Guti, Gago, and M. Diarra.

I don't like the move but that's the business.

Posted Wednesday August 26, 2009, About: Tottenham to bid on van Nistelrooy?
If the Spurs need firepower and have the money, great, but Ruud is a risk and against some of the tougher defenses might not hold up. Further, if RMCF was interested in transfering Ruud they would have kept Negredo. Both Ruud's and Raul's contracts are up next year and Negredo is ready to take that next step. It's a moot point now anyway, Sevilla's del Nido has already valued Negredo at 80m euro, he's never going to return to RMCF.
Posted Wednesday August 26, 2009, About: Tottenham to bid on van Nistelrooy?
If Real Madrid wanted Ruud transferred they would have kept Negredo. So if the Spurs are going to make an offer it will have to be big and the Spurs can't afford to bring Ruud to the EPL, at age 33+, with two knee surgeries on his resume.

Lando, a great American athlete, needs to make a big move and this would certainly fit the bill. Real Americans represent this country everywhere they can, 24/7. PSG is a storied franchise that could use a return to prominence - that Lando, the American professional soccer player, would be a part of it is a blessing for us Americans who like to see American athletes compete internationally in sports that some Americans can't understand because they have been lobotomized by Rupert Murdoch, an Australian who dictates politics, the NFL, and NASCAR to simpleton Americans who are too fat to actually play a sport, too lazy to change the channel without a remote control, and too weak to support other Americans as they represent this country, America, on the international stage.

Hopefully Ryan actually backs up whatever comes out of that big mouth of his, unlike his old man. A fat, lazy, chickensh-t, over-hyped coach named Ryan. Is it the 1980s all over again?
Posted Friday August 14, 2009, About: Howard: Ref tilted in Mexico's favor
Let's say Howard is correct. That is something the national team should have taken into account ahead of time. I have nothing but respect for our national team but we did not look cohesive in that game. The hard challenges from behind started from the get-go and yet we still tried to play the ball to players' feet while their backs were to the Mexican goal. Conversely, when we did get creative at midfield and we did hold strong, we created through-ball chances - none more beautiful than Davies' goal.

We, again, were in the mix with a storied national team. For Howard to think that any referee would be unbiased, in Azteca, with Mexico facing elimination, against us shows - I'm sorry - a lack of understanding of the game. It's like we were the prosecution against Mexico's legal defense. We had to prosecute with extreme conviction and leave no doubt (to be better in everything) while Mexico needed only to raise doubts (be mediocre) in order to win. We needed to be faster, stronger, and smarter to win this game. We weren't smarter.

That being said - we did show grit, more than I've seen in the past. I really liked that. We didn't back down. We got in some faces when we needed to and we let it be known that we were not going to be intimidated neither physically or mentally. I like that toughness and if we would have continued more creatively during the game the result would have been different - even with a stilted referee.
Posted Tuesday August 11, 2009, About: Barca may pursue Arsenal star
So Barcelona could field a team with Ibra and Bojan up front with Iniesta, Xavi, Cesc and Messi at midfield? That's just nasty. Pointless, given that Real is going to make up for that 6-2 drubbing from last season, but nasty nonetheless.

Seeing as how he, and the rest of the Galaxy performed pretty well against one of the marquee clubs on the planet - I'd say it is less of a problem than reported.
Posted Monday August 03, 2009, About: Real Madrid wants Maicon for Sneijder
Rumor out of Madrid is that Pellegrini is a big fan of Sneijder's so I don't put a lot of stock in this theory. Plus, Maicon's upside is way more visible to anyone who watches him play. Sneijder - on the other hand - has a lot of subtle skills that can go unnoticed by folks other than coaches. RMCF has a bunch of Dutch players and some will go - Huntelaar and Van der Vaart are gone for sure, even though Drenthe has improved his game admirably, he's probably going as well. Clubs are afraid of Robben's injured past and Van Nistlerooy's age and knees so they will probably stay.
Posted Thursday July 30, 2009, About: Irvin rips Bledsoe to make a point
Calling out Bledsoe, a man who almost died playing the game of football, is kind of weak. There is nothing wrong with Romo but there are a lot of other guys Irvin could have chosen to ridicule - none of whom sacrificed half as much for the game of football - as Bledsoe did.

Any of these ring a bell, Mike? "Babe" Laufenberg, Drew Henson, Chad Hutchinson, Quincy Carter.
