Yes Mr. McGirt, "compete". As in not laying down and taking a "butt" kicking. As in playing with a real sense of purpose. They don't "win", but at least they compete.

I'm right there with you. You have to wonder about who writes this stuff. At this point, who wants to play with Iverson at all. The Knicks just rejected the notion [again], and I can't imagine any team wanting to put up with Iverson's "desire to win" [as long as he's a starter]. The person who wrote this article should be fired.

Au contraire my friend. David Stern turned the NBA into a global phenomenon. Without his say so, people in other countries may have never heard of Michael Jordan. To them, he'd be just another American basketball player... That is, until they saw him play. Which sort of goes back to the original point.

I "absolutely" agree with you. Makes you wonder how this would go over in say "Cleveland". Not to mention other states around the N.B.A. map. New York (well this is questionable), Utah, Los Angeles, et al. Let's not even touch the fact that in spite of how he's presented, Michael Jordan isn't loved by everyone.

Okay... Raise your hand if you didn't see this coming. Charles Barkley spoke truth to wisdom when he came up with the phrase, "Me, Myself and Iverson". It is as true now as it was then. It's always going to be about him and anyone who's been paying attention knows that. Whether they admit it or not is another thing. A.I. can try to "baffle us with b.s." all he wants, but I don't think anyone that isn't "a fan" buys into his, "it's all about winning" mantra. Kudos to the Grizzlies for giving him the room to take "an indefinite leave of absence". Eat the salary for the sake of the team Mr. Heisley. Good move.

It would have been galactically stupid not to sign him. This might actually fall under the category of "no brainer". By signing Rondo and Baby, they are setting the table for the future. In a couple of years, these guys will have that much more experience and hopefully another ring to go with it. I notice how people always think that athletes develop in a vacuum and how you see them today is how they'll always be in spite of evidence to the contrary. Rondo will get better. Davis will get better. Haven't they shown that already?

Besides that, what would make them think that Lebron would come to a team that stinks [or stunk it up just to get him]? Who will they have on board to make the move palatable and more importantly... Will D'Antoni still be coaching them. I say that having Mike D'Antoni as a coach is a deal killer because you know his teams aren't going anywhere [in the long run].

Dude... He had an opportunity for a much lighter sentence and he turned it down. Regardless of how a person feels about the rules and whether the criminal justice system is flawed or not, you can't deny this fact. The "only" reason Plaxico Burress is in jail for years in stead of months is "Plaxico Burress". Why do so many people ignore this fact?

They don't necessarily hate the Giants. The just don't like soft, wannabe gangsters who are "terrified of going to prison". I don't think anyone in their right mind wouldn't be terrified about going to prison [unless you've been there before and then still...], but to admit it publicly!?! To his fellow inmates, I'm pretty sure that's akin to an "insult" and a sure sign that he's "soft". The thing is Plax tried to play himself off as larger than life and when he had an opportunity to have his sentence reduced "significantly" [read: months not years], he played the "celebrity athlete" card and lost. The sense of wry compassion I have for him will always be tempered by my thoughts of his stupidity. He wanted to play the gangsta'... Well Plax, here you go.
