This is a tough one. I like them both. Based on basketball skill alone, one could argue that Deron Williams is better, because of his shooting ability (from the field and the free throw line). Still, Deron hasn't proven himself to be the consistent triple-double threat that Rondo is, because Rondo is an above average rebounder... For a point guard. I think comparing these two is like apples and oranges. Depends on what you want from your PG.

Whether you call him Point Guard, Point Forward or Floor Leader, someone on the team needs to control the flow of the game. While players at other positions are capable of doing so, they are by proxy filling the role of the Point Guard. Point goes to the Cabbage Eater.

I was going to read through the entire schtick, but I said, "**** it", and being a retired PG, I went right. Why? Because, whether you call him Point Guard, Point Forward or Floor Leader, someone needs to control the flow of the game for his team. While some current day players at other positions are capable of doing so, they are "by proxy" fulfilling the Point Guard role, thus making the "role" important.

What the Thunder needs is a point guard who wants to be a point guard. Russell wants to be "the guy" no matter how much he defers in conversation. His actions on the court tell the story and still, he fails to acknowledge the numbers that show (quite clearly) that when he shoots more than anyone else, the Thunder are more likely to lose. Those numbers don't reflect an opinion. They are a representation of the facts.

If it pushes the "starter" to improve, then it's a good deal. Likewise (as has been said), Tebow's intangibles make him a viable threat to Sanchez; not only from a leadership perspective, but also in regards to the offensive coordinator who likes to run the Wildcat offense and in light of the Jets wanting to improve their ground game.
