sign deke, the guy is all heart and passion. His only weakness is his hands, he lets easy passes slip by too much.

Alston does need to go, but now w/ that assault incident it might be harder to unload him. I haven't heard about an alston-for-gooden trade, but i'd take that any f'in day of the week. However, i doubt any trade is ever gonna happen

dbrude, I'm from houston and I'm just as excited about our season as you, but i'm stayin skeptical. We look good now, but wait until opposing coaches start puttin together real packages for us, and players start to play multiple downs for us. We need o-line, and that is the bottom line. Yea, we look good for the first part of our preseason games, but how will the season affect they're play?

Also, I don't wanna take on another safety's contract right now. We need to prove first that our dline can produce pressure consistently in order for our safety's to take advantage. Next year we need to pick up o-line early, and secondary after. Our defense the second half of the season was pretty solid so we can afford to skip out a little if they stick with it. Waiting patiently for the o-line's performance.

Go Texans!

first, it's too early to say 1st round exit...mainly b/c we have a new coach.
second, mavs and spurs would instantly start yao. Mavs need a traditional efficient center (diop/dampier? seriously?), and spurs play a slow game that yao would fit perfectly in...plus you havta take into account their love for international talent
thirdly, francis better not start unless he can prove that he can be a team player rather than the NY francis. However, he's made the first step towards that image since he signed w/ a team that obviously has their 1st 2 scoring options and slew of pg's (which need to be reduced), a coach that already loves another pg and sg, and a coach he never played w/ for a sh*t ton less money.
fourth, we don't need him to be a great player. We need him to be a complimentary player and if he doesn't do that we can cut his **** next year at minimal cost. And if that happens all you ppl claiming he's a bad person can rejoice and say you knew it from every corner of the world.
finally, he won't take from tmac's shots drastically. Adding each players shots-per-game average over their career only comes out to about 52 shots by the three in a game (17 from steve, 22 from tmac, and about 13 from Ming). That leaves almost 30 shots for the rest of the team who never shot that much anyways

But like I said, I want steve comin off the bench and I'm startin to see what adelman sees in Brooks. That guy can play...just hope he can lift his game up to overcome his size
Posted Monday July 16, 2007, About: Francis joins Heat PG options
is it me or do a lot of ppl post opinions w/o any evidence to support them? If you're gonna say someone sucks at least post why you think they would suck...or be a waste of talent and life. Try to do some REAL analysis (stats, statements, age, maturity, and whatever other factors).

Yes, steve francis did very bad in NYC. But you havta think about it from an employee point of view. I mean that's what francis is. He NEVER got along w/ NY management, and just like any other disgruntled employee he's gonna be less motivated to play well for the team. Also factor in that Isiah and him had some underlying beef w/ each other. And when Thomas became head coach, thomas determiend his pt.

There are a lot of factors. Steve also never labeled himself the "franchise", that nickname was given to him by Calvin Murphey...houston's own commentator and legend.

But if ya'll don't want him, don't worry. Houston will take him for cheap and at least take a gamble at a potentially good fit. Cuz that's what houston does, puts money where they mouth is

supersport, i think 7 mil might be too much. I'd part w/ 5 to 6. Mostly b/c we've got james, brooks, and alston. Yea james and alston are questionable b/c they are either below par or eradic, but we also hae yet to see how brooks plays (and how they all play in rotation). Adelman is already in love w/ brooks (as you can see by the ridiculous position we drafted him at), and alston/james have played w/ the yao_mac combo. We've got the upper hand on him, and if he ends up being a pain then we can cut him at minimal cost w/o having to go thru roster changes to make cap space.
Posted Sunday July 15, 2007, About: Stevie Franchise's destination list
yea, but you're argument is implying that he was a bad character guy and ruining the team chem. I would charge it b/c he was young. He hadn't been in a situation where he couldn't get his way and therefore prolly made that mistake b/c he had an upper hand. Now he's been in New York and realized he's not strong enough to bully management. You also mentioned that francis thought Yao was beneath him, and now you're comin back with the org thought steve was bad. If your latter argument were the original issue then I might have agreed. Also, he was integral to the trade that landed Tmac (a guy that said he wanted to play real bad). Tmac was already known to take a lot of shots, and also rumored to take games off. If attitude were the REAL issue than why trade one problem for another potential problem. Francis did say he also liked to play w/ Yao.

Francis shot 1117 shots in 03-04, Mcgrady shot 1566...so they knew that tmac would take a lot of shots as well.

The only argument i can concede to is the superbowl, and I still think that was just a young, big head mistake.

Either way, I'm just saying that I don't agree w/ the aggravation towards him. If we got him cheap, we would only benefit. If he ends up even scoring 12 points and 3 assists he'll help us. Why? B/c our bench has almost zero mobility and now we have some strong perimeter shooters. His TO's? That's a problem, and we'll need to limit his pt to avoid it.

sorry, not "good sports analyst" just "innovative sports analyst"
Posted Friday July 13, 2007, About: Stevie Franchise's destination list
hey dvs, were you talking to me? I'm not 100% sure, but I could see how that was meant for me. You make a good point, but I don't think that's what he was arguing. The other 4 arguments look to be discrediting steve as a good locker room kinda guy.

But you're right and I agree w/ you, francis would be a good gamble if we got him cheap. The cost-benefit would be heavily in our favor if we got him at 5/yr. Yes, a lot of ppl are gonna say that's so expensive but that's all we can offer...our MLE is like 5/yr I think, and that's all we can offer since we're already above the cap. If it's less than it's an even BETTER gamble

kmahl. Kobe can win w/o shaq, yes. Kobe CAN'T win without another dominant center in the triangle offense. He is a great all-aspect player, and probably will be remembered as the closest coming of MJ there is. However, he's not MJ, he doesn't have a Pippen, and smush isn't good enough to help kobe. Also, there are a lot of ppl that agree with you that kobe can win without shaq, so it's not like what you're arguing is some genuine article of a good sports analyst. If you wanted to go out on limb w/ that intention, then why not just claim Kobe is the worst player ever and should be bagging groceries. Or Wilt Chamberlain was only good b/c he was tall...or something else b/c what you're arguing is def not the first time that opinion has been uttered.

irv, i'm from houston and I can garauntee you that he didn't wanna be traded for any reason. His desire was to stay, and even when he was traded he left with class saying that he loved houston, knew that trades were a part of the business, and that he wouldn't mind coming back to houston to end his career. Blazers wanted Francis b/c they could buy his contract out, and therefore the knicks demanded he be part of the trade to land Zach Randolph. The last argument is purely speculation. Plus, w/ Jarrett Jack and Roy they have a young backcourt w/ the capability to run a team deep into the playoffs. Your only solid argument is the 1st fact, and Stevie was young back then.
Posted Thursday July 12, 2007, About: Stevie Franchise's destination list
Other than TO's he would be a great addition to the rockets. He loves houston, and he's already got good chemistry w/ Yao. That's two huge things he doesn't need to worry about and could help him regain his playing days of old. Steve does take a lot of shots, but looking at TMAC/Yao/Steve's most trigger happy seasons (in houston) only show that combined they could go 22/49 in a single night. That still leaves room for shot contribution's from our bench and battier.

Not to mention that Rick Adelman enjoys an uptempo game which francis does provide. His attitude was great when he was in houston, I don't know why it went sour for the other two teams, but I don't see htowne's team chem bein broken up. Couple that w/ Tmac's new pass-a-lot ideology and you could get the potential to setup a hail storm of 3's. I would personally think we could utilize Battier/Novak better this way. His turnover issue is the only thing I worry about.

PG - Brooks/Francis/James/The rest
SG- Tmac/Francis/Wells
SF- Battier/Wells/Novak
PF- Hayes/Landry (still waitin on whether landry really is hayes w/ a shot)
C- Yao/Deke/JT

Now can stevie franchise deal w/ bein a backup? I dunno.
Posted Thursday July 12, 2007, About: Stevie Franchise's destination list
rockets have too many point guards! IF Vspan leaves and we trade both rafer and sura then maybe...but he'll havta fight for position w/ aaron brooks and mike james since adelman is so high on the two.

louman, Nfl.com would disagree w/ you

http://www.nfl.com/teams/coaching/TB

also, what made you think that? The only coach before him was Tony D, and we know he never made it to the superbowl w/ tampa since last year was his first year to be there

yes, the heat did take the title 2 years ago...but against chokes-a-lot dirk. I loved watching that series...anyone w/ me??? :-D
Posted Wednesday July 11, 2007, About: Mo' money or Miami for Williams?
haha, fannation needs to hire an editor...or a better one. The other day they had the Cowboys' Roy Williams up for an article about UNC head coach Roy Williams. It starts to get real bad when you get Mo and Redd mixed up...

also, stuyp you can't be serious about the number 2 position right? East has cleveland, chicago and detroit. Those teams are far more talented. Andrea will be good, but he'll be just as surprised as any other when he drops 30 on any team.

Altho kmahl, I wouldn't say Heat have a chance to win it all. Mostly b/c the east first has to stop running into the western conference wall :)
Posted Wednesday July 11, 2007, About: Why Wallace will remain a Bobcat
dang, if he went to portland they would continue to build an insane team. Now that the jailblazers have been dismantled it's time to pave way for a new generation of just players...something NFL players have forgotten a looooong time ago
Posted Wednesday July 11, 2007, About: Bucs still waiting on Plummer
Jake won't come back. His head has gotten too big for his neck to handle. I think tampa wants a solid backup and not to have wasted what they traded away. Simms is a fellow 'horn, but lets call a spade a spade...he's pretty terrible.

Tampa needs to leave him alone. He's been w/ a losing arizona team and I don't think he can put up w/ it anymore. His age is starting to become a factor and I don't think he wants to put in the effort unless the team has legitimate threats to take the final hardware.
Posted Friday July 06, 2007, About: Root of Richardson's anger
Richardson is good, but he's no tmac. Yes, he HELPED his team get to the playoffs and to the second round, but he didn't take them to either. If anything it was GS' boy, bdiddy. T-mac is a player on his own level...as is Jason Richardson. I'm not saying one is worse the other, but comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges. The former likes to shoot more, and the latter likes to take it to the hole more frequently.

However, the quality of this move is tbd. Golden state really DID need rebounding. The series against utah proved that. They can't hang w/ a team that has an anchor on the inside. It messes up their ability to play. Dallas didn't have that. Dirk likes to play facing. diop/dampier? That's not even half a backup.

I think the 'cats get the raw end of this deal.
Posted Friday July 06, 2007, About: How Mavs might land Garnett
this isn't goin down ppl. Minnesota is gonna want a big man in return w/ some offensive contributions, not to mention some more minutes that don't give the opposition charity strike opportunities. Josh Howard, good. Devin Harris, decent. Greg Buckner, terrible. Diop, Terrible.

I doubt they would need Devin Harris anyways. Why would they want another 2-guard masquerading as a point man? It takes Devin a little over 7 minutes to find a dime even with the current team he's on. Think if he went to minnesota's situation. He would flop flat on his face.

The only good thing is Josh Howard, and cuban would be wiser to keep him.

haha. yes, i realize that i used a word in the definition of itself. See? That's straight from the dictionary...strengthening my point that dictionaries shouldn't be used as sources for your arguments.

Also, rodman and wallace did/do all the things you're talking about...
Outlaw? he DID do them, but unfortunately for him he's getting old and there's just not that much room for pt w/ outlaw's name written on it. So how can he REALLY help in hustle points w/ his minutes down?

It's just common sense.
Posted Tuesday July 03, 2007, About: Lewis leaving Sonics for Magic
I also wanna add that louman or whatever offered no solid facts to back his statement that those 3 players are hustle players. Had he done so maybe I wouldn't have pulled out all the stops for my reply.

jus for the record, i don't have anything against the magic. In fact I really like the idea of rashard going there. I might disagree w/ the max contract, but you'll never see me rooting against the magic. Why? b/c dwight howard is a f*ckin monster, and one day he's gonna school everybody and their mama's. Of course, this is what I hope he does :)
