Dude, Collins played great Thursday night and last season wasn't luck or a sacrificed chicken. I am a Steelers fan but Collins still has the ability to lead any NFL team. He isn't starting because he's 38 and people feel sorry for him. He's playing because he's 38 and can perform better than most of the young guns.

The Steelers can fare well without Troy, but still man.... just watching him play is such a pleasure for any football fan. His performance before the injury was nothing short of amazing.

Posted Saturday August 08, 2009, About: Jesse Jackson: NFL colluding against Vick?
Jesse Jackson has no place in this issue. It has nothing to do with race. It has to do with the fact that he commited a crime. The possibility of him coming back to the NFL making a very good living sends many mixed messages. Yes, he paid his debt to society, but what of the responsibility to society when he became a high profile professional athlete. I'm sorry, you can't say that you didn't sign up to be a role model.
Pete Rose is still paying for his crime. Whose is worse? And Jesse Jackson, shame on you..... your preaching only smears more mud on your hypocritical face. The same premise goes for him. You wish to be a servant to society? Serve it, not screw it.

Atemcio's rant = totally off base. He just made himself look even more irrelevant by saying something useless. It's like trying to high five a leper...... USELESS & UNNECESSARY

Go Steelers by the way.....
Posted Tuesday January 20, 2009, About: Source: NFL upset with Steelers music
While not trying to take away fromthe fact that there was someone injured on the field. You don't want the crowd focusing on that fact. Distracting the crowd with music or other forms, to me, is the appropriate thing to do. When there is an accident anywhere else, you hear paramedics or police trying to keep a crowd from forming. You know, "there is nothing to see, move along, move along..." not "hey everyine, there has been a terrible accident, come look and see the horror! The sky is falling, the sky is falling!" Grow up people. I am glad that McGahee will recover but even he must have felt a little weird knowimg all those people were watching. He wanted to get off that field faster than anyone. Anything to take the attention off of him like music was the right thing to do.

Posted Saturday November 29, 2008, About: Why Barkley ripped LeBron
While Barkley is right in his comments, at least LeBron comes out every game and plays hard. He's not missing practices or meetings. He's honoring his contract. Other players sign contracts, then don't honor them. And these fines are pocket chage to them, that is why they keep practicing their ignorance. As quick as teams are willing to give millions, they should take millions for disruptive behavior and contract violations. If the whole league agreed to harsh financial punishments for players, you would see alot more halos, less deviant behavior and probably more focused efforts that would lead to better performances. As a society, we have created a false sense that if you make millions, you are not responsible for your actions. Even Barkley made a comment as a player that he didn't choose to be a role model. I'm sorry, but signing a contract for a sports team requires you perform on and off the field/court for the benefit of the team and it's fans. It's like saying that you are a serial killer that plays a professional sport. Being in the public eye, if anything, requires you to be responsible for your actions, especially if it reflects on those who pay you. The client is the fan, the team owner, the sponsors, anyone who contributes to the player making the money. If Charles Barkley, or any other professional athlete, was a roofer, and took a deposit to do a job and never completed the job. What would happen? If that person also drank on the job and was disrespectful and abusive to his client, what would happen. The only difference between professional athletes and other contract workers is the amount of zeroes at the end of their paycheck. That difference alone should remind them what they are expected of but that hasn't made a difference it seems and the true essence of sports is being blanketed by the importance of the dollar. The cost of doing business I guess.

Posted Saturday October 18, 2008, About: UFC's White blasts EliteXC
You have to give D White credit. He truly created a great business plan with UFC and still preserves the essence of competition. UFC fights promote themselves. THey almost always deliver and the Octagon Girls is a nice touch as well but they aren't needed to help the UFC. It's a nice visual break between blood shots.
Posted Saturday October 18, 2008, About: Rampage: Bisping unbeatable at 185
Saw Silva's appearance on TUF recently and his speed and talent is impressive. I like Bisping, but in my opinion he would be outmatched and possibly knocked out by Silva. Silva is definitely much quicker than Bisping and that alone can be the difference. Your cardio needs to be on top and jogging x miles a day won't do it. When fighting Silva, you need to prepare to go all rounds at a high output. No clinching, no resting on your back while he mounts and wails. You stop for one second and you just lost. Bisping is tough, that's for sure but I do not feel that he is pysically prepared to fight Silva's fight. He needs to control that environment in the octagon to give himself a chance of defeating Silva.
Posted Saturday October 18, 2008, About: Vera's UFC future on the line
Vera is definitely a tough fighter. One of the few fighters that came from another organization other than UFC or Pride and contributes. What is scary is he is still learning. I can see him using his bad experience to his advantage and really come into the ring so prepared, focused, and mad, that I feel nervous for anyone fighting him at this exact time.

Posted Friday September 05, 2008, About: Pot tied to Penn State players?
rhymeister,

I agree with you but these are athletes. THey got caught and they should pay the price. Universities need to take responsibility for their students and let the public see that they are doing what is necessary. I applaud the many coaches that require success in the classroom far above the NCAA required levels. These coaches understand the importance of learning and privilege these kids are getting. For those coaches who do not care and just want to win games and not care when a student-athlete fulfills his athletic arrangement and cannot finish college and move on to a career, they are nothing but pimps disrespectin' their hos.
Posted Friday September 05, 2008, About: Pot tied to Penn State players?
It will be interesting to see what happens. I was a Division I athlete for a non-revenue sport but saw the treatment that football & basketball players received. The institutions are largely at fault for allowing these kids get away with murder. And when they graduate and they do not make it to the big show, the college is done with you. If an institution takes a talented kid to play, make sure he becomes a better person instead of giving him a false sense superiority. Remind them to educate themselves so when they don't make the big show, they can support themselves. Many of you may think I am off base but I feel that OJ was a product of his environment in which many, including his university gave him carte blanche and that stuck with him. He bacame delusional. If those Penn State kids are quilty, they should be kicked off the team. They were given an opportunity to play and learn, and look how they show their gratitude....
