Right now, the mythical national championship comes down to two conferences with legacies, and the refs are going to make damn sure Florida and Bama do not suffer an upset on the way to their playoff game.
By the way, I'm an SEC/LSU fan. But this season has been the least fun of all because certain teams have so much less of a chance while the USC's can suffer blowout after blowout and still be in the top 20.
ND did a great thing by hiring Tyrone Willingham. They then did the worst thing possible - firing him with a year left on his contract. They followed that up by giving Weis a contract extension his first year while winning with Willingham's players. Weis' current won-loss percentage is only one game better than Willingham's after the loss yesterday to Navy.
And until we stop hearing Holtz raving about your slightly above average team and QB, it's hard to feel for you fans.
Lastly, Weis pontificated at the podium after yesterday's loss like he was battling a war against good and evil. His ego is as big as he is.
Man, I hope you all get to play LSU in a bowl. I'd love for a 30-point loss to the Tigers to be Weis' last game. Then I can consider rooting for ND again.
Look at the Cowboys roster right now and you'll find about six starters who played for other teams. The biggest stars on the team (Romo, Barber, Austin, Witten, Ware, Newman) were drafted by the Cowboys, not stars acquired from other teams.
So before we start the name-calling, let's agree the Eagles are a better coached team and have been more successful the last decade, but Harbaugh couldn't be more wrong. And I hope someone in both organizations points that out. He's just trying to sell books. But at least we know he's not a truthful person, at least on this issue.
The problem here is the kid was stupid enough to use a racial slur in a public setting. He should be punished, the degree to which is up to the school and the coach. But don't try to determine how well this kid has mastered English based on twittering.
That game should have been over. USC really needed to put their foot on ND's throats. I think those two late TDs probably did save Weis' job, so I'll be rooting against ND for another year. That ten-year extension to a coach who had done nothing but win a few games with another coach's players was a slap in the face to Bob Davie and Tyrone Willingham. Wies' winning percentage is now exactly the same as Davie's and Willingham's. I'll never root for ND again till Weis is gone.
Just ask Andy Reid, who chose to throw the ball against the Raiders, who were 30th against the run. Guess what? The Eagles LOST!
At this level, you can't impose your will on the other team - you do what works. That's why I always say coaching is more important in football than any other sport, hands down. Jerry Jones would do well to learn this if he ever wants to win another SB.
When Goddell tells him "NO!", wuldn't it be ironic if he goes to the same ACLU he berates to fight for his right to own an NFL franchise?
No, please keep him out. He'd be an embarassment to the city of St.Louis and the NFL.
If you see him begging on the streets of L.A. in ten years, remind him of those earrings.
And any NFL owner who tries it is an idiot, too. Jimmy Johnson was one-of-a-kind. Don't expect it to happen again any time soon.
No, this was about Tebow winning another Heisman. And the Heisman is big on stats. Tebow was already sick. Florida could have beat Kentucky without him. Part of coaching is knowing when to save your best players for the next fight. Coach Meyer wasn't thinking because he knew he had a bye before going to LSU. He may think twice next time.
It may not have been so bad, but apparently Tebow and several other players had a flu-like illness coming into the game. That makes you weaker. I do hope he's OK, so LSU can knock the living crap out of him in a couple of weeks!!
