Tim, stay out. This game is not do-or-die for UF. Save yourself for the rematch in Atlanta.
Here's an LSU fan hoping that Tebow's OK. That was scary.
After the game is over, there is no more need for tactics. Hout should have gone up to Blount, shaken his hand and, with a knowing look in his eye, said, "Hey, good game." Then Blount would have really been p**sed off, especially since he could only spend the next week punching the wall, because that arrogant SOB had the nerve to say "Hey, good game" to him.
Revenge is a dish best served cold, my friends.
But then WV and Mizzou both go and lose and Miles finds himself in the NC game! Either he made a deal with the devil, or Lady Luck is smiling on him. Either way, I want to go to Vegas with the guy.
However, my point remains that UM was, at best, extremely clumsy in its courting of Miles. At worst, it simply didn't want him.
Guys do this all the time when pressured to ask out certain girls (blind dates, etc.) they are not necessarily attracted to. They are deliberately clumsy and aggressive in their approach, hoping the girl in question will turn them down (to get back to bayoucountry's courting analogy, above).
You say they made the offer "contingent on his accepting BEFORE they game". I rest my case: UM made him an offer he had no choice but to turn down. This is what UM was counting on. They didn't want him.
It's true that UM has more tradition than LSU. But, when choosing between tradition and national titles, well I wouldn't hesitate to opt for the latter. Sorry.
