Posted Thursday September 27, 2007, About: Grossman surprised, frustrated
As a devoted Gators fan, it hurts me to have to admit it. However, it is a reality that Gainesville does not produce NFL caliber QB's. I was quite surprised that the Bears wasted a 1st round selection on him.

That is true, goCanada! However, Coffey was already in Pittsburgh by the 1987-88 season, when Edmonton first beat the Bruins in the cup finals. That was their fourth of five Lord Stanley's. As for Fuhr in 1990, I also heard the rumour that it snowed year round for him up in Edmonton that season as well.

The B's gave up on Bill Ranford, traded him to the Oilers, and he won the Conn Smythe for Edmonton in 1990 against the B's. That Oilers team was minus only Wayne Gretzky from their dynasty team of the 1980's. Grant Fuhr happened to be injured, and Ranford filled in quite substantially. If only Neely could handle half a season on skates (including playoffs). He could help the B's more on the ice than the front office..lol.

He is an all-star offensive player. As for captain, I would relegate that role to KG now. If they had gotten one of the top two lottery picks, there was always that chance of him being dealt, regardless of what Ainge is saying now. It appears with Oden's injury, things did work out quite well for the C's in that regard.
Posted Wednesday September 26, 2007, About: Heatley's future in Ottawa
They already lost Schaefer; who is a valuable defensive forward. Unfortunately, either Redden or Spezza could be on another team come next year. That's the ugly reality of the smaller market Canadian teams. Just when Ottawa finally built a strong Stanley Cup contending team, they may not be able to hold onto multple key offensive and defensive players. Then again, Buffalo lost both Briere and Drury this off season.
Posted Monday September 24, 2007, About: NHL expanding to Europe?
While the NHL is methodically dissolving into an ineffectual nothing, I'll devote my time and money into the NCAA and AHL game.
Posted Sunday September 23, 2007, About: NHL discusses expansion
The NHL should be considering contraction, not expansion.
