Being a long time Jays fan,I don't see this team seriously contending in the East with New York, Boston ahead of them and Tampa behind, even with Doc. I don't see a need to rush into this deal..., everyone knows it's coming anyways. I think they should hold off until the deadline next season for a trade..., they'll get a lot more for him if they wait it out. And even if they do deal Doc to the Yankees or Red Sox, it's not like Doc's going to be facing the Jays 19 times a season.

MacDonald and Hanson have apparently been called up and Tosk and Mitchell are on the IR. There's a story going around that Blake, Kulemin, Exelby and Grabovski will be sent down as well at some point and then any team (if they want to) can pick them up. Of course, the obvious question is who want an underachieving former 40 goal man, two young and talented wingers who should be scoring a lot more then they are now and a D-man they traded Kubina for? Time will tell..., I am not holding my breath just yet though.

The reason is simple..., there's no one in that dressing room or on the team that deserves the 'C'. If they had a Sundin like player that was a true leader in that locker room then he'd get it. The only one close to that is probably Kaberle.

I like the idea of Minnesota hosting a game but, does it have to have the host city playing? Why not have the Stanley Cup finalists in a rematch outdoors or, possibly the All Star game (if it's actually going to continue!) That way, Minnesota, Colorado and other cities as well as the California teams, have the chance to play outdoors. And it would've been great if Vancouver had the game this year..., with the Olympics and all in 2010 but, Boston should be a sellout and a great game.

If they're going to trade Young, play the guy this weekend. Tennessee vs New England would be the game to do it in. What about Young for Quinn? I think Vince needs a change of scenery to get his game back..., Cleveland could be the place to do that.

I think a major problem with that, while it's a good idea, is that Rangers fans wouldn't allow it. It works with basketball but I don't think that having two NHL teams in one arena would work (schedule wise at least). The problem with the Islanders is that no one really wants to play there. I figured that with Tavares (OHL leading scorer) coming in that, he'd have a 'Crosby like effect' and FA's would be lining up to play on Tavares' wing. Guess that didn't work. I think the Brooklyn idea works better..., not MSG.

No one is willing to take on that contract. Plus with Lincecum, Wilson and Sanchez arbitration eligible this season...? SF won't take a massive contract so it looks like the Jays are stuck with VW..., unless the Yanks or Mets wants him?

I've never understood why the entire league has to be shut down for those two weeks..., here's an idea. Keep the games going! Teams are only losing a player or two and yeah they're stars but, doesn't every team have enough players to just, keep playing and not worry about one or two guys missing? Don't get me wrong..., I love the Olympic Games, watch them every four years and the hockey is the best. But teams losing a star or two for two weeks shouldn't be that bad..., injuries happen to stars and they don't shut down for 2 weeks right? There shouldn't be a reason for the NHL to just, shut down for those weeks. I don't get it..., and not a lot of fans like it either.

I am just waiting for JP to drop VW like a bad habit. If he sticks around, I wouldn't want to be in Lind or Hill's shoes..., in a few years these two all stars will be gone too. It's too bad..., he took a decent team on a few years ago and made it into a joke with the moves he made.

The only thing I can't stand about Heatley is his attitude. Granted, he is a great scorer and he'll do well in SJ but, his 'it's me or nothing' attitude over the last few years has me worried. He is a sure shot for Team Canada though..., just hope he checks his attitude at the airport when he lands in Vancouver.
