i read since the last lockout revenue has increased 1 billion dollars, so the business model seems to have been sound ... maybe if the owners would have stopped handing out huge contracts to 3rd line players and AHL players (Wade Redden, hello) then they would not have bankrupted themselves and now have to screw the fans and blame the players for the huge salaries. what did they expect the players to say "no, I think that contract is too big i would prefer to play for less"
Not an Avs fan, but as I recall the Forsberg/Sakic/Foote/Roy Cup years left the team bordering on bankrupt and with very few early drafts picks. While this owner may be tight with the proverbial purse strings, he may also be trying to pay off debt the team still owes - much to the fans scorn
