They did indeed hold OSU to well under their season average. But, going by that, they are still barely deserving of carrying the jockstraps of the OSU defense. So it is all relative.

Nice chip, kid. Next time just play.

Of course they did: they are Texans. They are utterly amoral, "as long as you give me what I want, do whatever you like" morons. Look at the Cowboys. Look at W.

If he played for any other team they'd be slamming him. But he's their guy. And no, none of them have remotely the intellect to appreciate that irony.
Posted Sunday October 12, 2008, About: Good news for Bonds in BALCO case?
And back to ignorance: due to 20 years of GOP deregulation, NONE of what the financial people did was illegal. That does suck (and it is why McCain would commit suicide if he had any honor left), but the bottom line is that Bonds committed a crime, they did not. It is not white/black, it's more about being rich enough to lobby to make your actions legal.

So, stop feeling sorry for yourselves and VOTE. It will accomplish two things: put a black man in the white house, which will go far to addressing all the truly racially driven imbalances in our systems, and it will correct that buIIshit "stealing is legal if you are a banker" garbage. But back to making yourselves the victims and self-oppression, have you seen voter turnout rates among African Americans? Please, take the power. Stop whining and vote.
Posted Sunday October 12, 2008, About: Good news for Bonds in BALCO case?
Ignorant black pride and victimhood. White liberal guilt (the murdering Columbus... priceless) Love these forums.

I am a liberal. Very liberal, in fact. So liberal that I actually view African Americans as full human beings, capable of moderating their actions and deserving of both the priveliges and responsibilities of full adulthood. All of you who excuse every action based on the past are taking free will and choice away. And that, whatever your intentions, is the most insidious form of racism I can imagine.

So many excuse OJ, Bonds, Vick with these "well, look at history: you owe us a pass arguments." Well, if any white man said "what do you expect: he's black; of course he can't help but commit crimes. Punishing him would be like punishing a dog for chasing squirrels," you would (I hope) crucify the idiot. But is what you are arguing really any different? The history is there; it is an abomination and a stain on this country. But g**damn it, your grandma being owned by someone does not mean you are incapable of taking control of your own actions, your own life, your own future.

Respect and responsibility go hand-in-hand. If you want the former, accept the latter. And when you ask to be excused from the latter, you lose the former. Your choice. Make it wisely.

Posted Saturday October 11, 2008, About: Good news for Bonds in BALCO case?
And last point to show how much these conspiracy-minded people are fueled by their own abject ignorance:

Bonds will not do time for PEDs; Jones is not doing time for PEDs; THIS VERY ARTICLE WAS NOT TALKING ABOUT JAIL TIME FOR PEDS (seriously; have someone read it to you if you can't handle that yourself). All of this revolves around federal perjury charges. It is about lying to investigators, not PEDs per se. It's why Clemens is in trouble and Pettitte is not; Pettitte did not lie when asked.

And for all you morons who think only the Black Athlete does actual time for federal perjury: Martha fekkin Stewart--the whitest woman on earth and hardly an athlete--did 5 months in jail for federal perjury and five more of home confinement.

Get the facts or shut your mouth.
Posted Saturday October 11, 2008, About: Good news for Bonds in BALCO case?
I said it before and I'll say it again:

If the Black Athlete (not sure why it's capitalized, but apparently an earlier poster thinks that is appropriate, so who am I to disagree) wants to not go to prison, the Black Athlete can not committ crimes.

Becaue frankly "sure he's guilty, but should you really punish him THAT hard?" is not a compelling argument to me or to many others. You can argue about length of sentences and the rest, but Vick really did fight and kill dogs, OJ murdered his wife and robbed people at gun point, Bonds took steroids and lied under oath about it. Unfair sentencing may be an issue (and personally my preference would be that ALL the punks--whatever their color or wealth--get the same harsh sentences; every trailor park bubba who fights drugs should be doing 24 months minimum just like Vick), but these guys are hardly the Hurricane. There is no innocence here.

So, are you now going to be like the Cameron Crazy and try to get me thrown off od here? You know, the pv$$ies who called for a ban of opponent fans in their section because it hurt their feelings when UNC beat them at home. The four UNC fans in the stands literally made them CRY.

No, mommy and daddy can't bail you out of sports forums either. Sorry. So you'll just have to cry yourself to sleep tonight now that the big, bad UNC fan was mean.
Posted Saturday October 11, 2008, About: Recruit spurns Notre Dame for Duke
CollBballFan: If getting money to play bad is your criteria for success, then yes: Duke is the top program in the country. Some of us care about winning. Also, we all said BIG MEN. And of all his big men, Brand (2 and done), Boozer (fair enough) and Deng (1 and done) are the only real successes. Brand and Deng came in good and left good, but did not develop under Coach K. Which leaves Boozer as the one he's ever really helped develop. Laettner was a role player, Dunleavey is as well. Randolph and Roberts are benchwarmers at best. All were very highly regarded before they got to Duke. All are mediocre pro players.

Fico: UNC and Duke have different academic missions. As the flagship public school in the state, UNC has a much broader base to educate. As a private school, Duke has a much more select student body.

As for academic reputation, it depends greatly on department. There are MANY at UNC that are far superior to Duke's for graduate training. Plus, the Academic Ranking of World Universities had Duke at 32 and UNC at 38 in 2008. It's based on Nobel and Fields Medal winners among alumni and faculty, research productivity and impact via citations, and the per-capita productivity. Given that Duke is smaller and has none of the budget constraints of UNC--so has per capital productivity is easier to increase due to a few extremely productive faculty members and can offer the kinds of salaries that bring in Nobel laureates, UNC is more than holding its own.

But then that is the kind of educated analysis that UNC alumni are capable of. I know you Dukies tend to just drink the coolade about how great you are--academically and athletically--and move on. But the truth is you are a bunch of Ivy League wannabes who couldn't make the cut. You know what they call you: The University of New Jersey, South. Because of all the little rich punks from Jersey who couldn't make it into the Ivies, so had mommy and daddy buy their way into Duke. And no, despite a similar structure and budget, somehow Duke never even approachs the Ivies in academic quality. So Duke is, fittingly, the Christian Laettner of the academic world: not bad in the small arena, but ultimately a disappointing underachiever where it really counts.
Posted Friday October 10, 2008, About: Anaheim 'confident' of getting NBA team
First of all, dissolve the Clippers. And I don't mean close the franchise, I mean hire hit men to slaughter every man, woman, and child who so much as attended a game, much less ran the team. Then never speak of them again.

But seriously, you have the worst sports franchise EVER and the most hyped-but-can't-close-the-deal team currently in the league, and you need another? Well, if they could ACTUALLY contend for a title....

... fair enough.
Posted Friday October 10, 2008, About: Recruit spurns Notre Dame for Duke
Yeah: I thought football too. And in that arena, it's also make a weird sort of sense. After all, Weis could win the NC, but if Duke's coach gets them to a bowl game, he just has to be a lock for Coach of the Year. And I say this as a UNC fan!

I mean, 0-12 is all too common, 1-11 a good season, and 2-10 a fantastic one for Duke recently. ND has a horrible year last year, but lose 3 more games then repeat for a decade and you're at Duke's level.

As for this story? Big man going to Duke. Unless his name is Elton, he just flushed his pro career away. And Notre Dame is hardly an academically poor school, HoldOnThere. It's not like he was choosing between Duke and UConn (I kid because I love, UConn fans).

oh, and d-lo:

Come on. Since when does physical talent mean a pass on acting like a real human being? If Hl+LER caught 100 passes a year you'd pull this "stop hatin'" BS? Bottom line, boy, is that you need to learn that the world is more than the individual. And so individual achievement does not make up for hurting everyone around you. TO has talent. And TO brings everyone around him down. Net? TO is a POS.

But then, that's what my parents taught me: think for one second about someone other than yourself. This Thanksgiving, ask your moms why she didn't give you even basic ethics or civilized behavior. Then bl+chslap her. 'Cause she let you down by not caring enough about you to make you into a completely functioning adult who can actually look beyond his own selfish needs. Sad. Sad.

Guard: stand this kid up; center: "fall," helmet first, into the side of his knee.

3 years and a lot of rehab later, this thug may be walking on his own. Career over, but then fair is fair.

Oh, and LSU: the second it's clear he can't play football any more, cancel his scholarship and make the little punk actually pay and achieve. He'll be back into the ghetto from whence he crawled within a semester. And deserving every minute of futility...
Posted Tuesday October 07, 2008, About: Crean: Hoosiers have suffered enough
Yeah, even being am IU fan, I would not object no matter what happens: they hired Sampson and got what they knew they would. But long-term, they will be fine.

Oh, but for Sampson? His "it's not my fault, they didn't monitor me enough" crap means that the NCAA should announce now the instant death penalty for any program who hires him in any capacity. His college career has to be a lifetime ban. And I for one will snap his fat neck if I get within three feet of him. No kidding: kill him in cold blood in front of a hundred witnesses in downtown Bloomington, and you will walk. It's called jury nullification.

Yes, your kid should come first. But at least call in. And then show up, even if late. Coughlin of all people may not understand, and then feel free to tell him to lick your taint.

But if you skip work without notification of any sort, yeah you should be suspended (or fired if in the real world). Grow up: be a professional and a good model for that son of yours.
