and comes, Propp says, with a paparazzi-proof parking garage.<-- Thats what A-Roid wants, so he has a place where he can inject himself in private since he will have a billion camera's following him everywhere now.
Why don't I go to Pacers games? 1) the fact they have stunk for years, 2) I have been stabbed in the back by ownership several times, and 3) they jacked up ticket prices so much even while being losers, and 4) I expect this team to be back in the cellar next year because the owners WILL YET AGAIN BREAK UP A DECENT TEAM TO SAVE MONEY WHILE CRYING POOR ME. Thats why I refuse to support the Pacers.
So what exactly is wrong with the stadium they play at now? Its only 20 freiking yrs old, so it cannot be outdated at all. It has plenty of seats, and has plenty of luxury boxes, so why exactly should a new stadium be built before the bonds paying for this one are not even expired I bet?
IIRC, the Cardinals won it all in 2006, and they only won 83 games in a very weak NL Central, the Astros won 82 games. They were the LOWEST seeded Division Champion. In the LDS they defeated the 88 win San Diego Padres 3 games to 1, in the NLCS they defeated a 97 win New York Mets team(the #1 seed in fact)4 games to 3. In the World Series, they defeated a 95 win AL WC winner Detroit Tigers team 4 games to 1. And an interesting fact, that Cardinals team is still the lowest winning percentage team(.516) to ever win the world series.
In this years post season hunt, the lowest winning percentage was .543, by the Detroit Tigers and these very same Cardinals. No where near a .500 record got into the playoffs, unlike 2006. Incidentally, if St. Louis was in the American League, they would have been division champions and not Wildcard champions, and the funny thing is, both .543 teams WON THEIR FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF SERIES, with the Cardinals even winning the play in game(and no that infield fly call never helped St. Louis, 3 errors helped St. Louis win)
What I find funny is that its the managers fault yet again. They drove Francona out, and a new manager was supposed to improve things, yet it didn't. When is Red Sox ownership going to place the real blame on the overpriced babies they are paying? Maybe this offseason, the Red Sox should go through those contracts and try to convert some of the money owed to the babies into crates of pampers, huggies, and pacifiers for them.
If every single person who hates these replacement refs were to NOT WATCH any single game this weekend and Monday, and NOT WATCH any game next week as well, and if those same fans REFUSED to go to the games as well, the NFL would settle this dispute ASAP. But the NFL knows what I said to happen, will never happen. Fans will still go to the games, fans will still tune in, the ratings for those games will be fine. Until the NFL LOSES MONEY, they are not going to change their stand.
Remember, in 2005, the Chicago White Sox blew a 15 1/2 game September 1 lead and they still won the division and the World Series that year, going 11-1 in the Post season
The NHL needs to let the teams at the bottom go. But also, the owners need to reign in their spending as well, it was absolute horse **** some of the deals handed out this off season to players, and then have ownership turn around and cry foul about money issues.
So those really were fans dressed as empty seats in June when they still were winning and actually looked good? They never revitalized the fan base. This time they can't blame the weather for fans not showing up though, not with that 99% tax payer paid stadium with Loria getting all revenue from it.
It is wrong, but at least they knew in advance it could happen, unlike many SEC schools who will sit there and say that they will pick it up the next year as well, then turn around and ditch em with no notice because some high school kid shagged an assistant on a recruiting trip
It's a private school, let them pay for ALL of it. Otherwise open your doors to the public, then get public tax money. If I owned a business around that area, I would be against this.
Oh sorta like he did numerous times in Chicago when he ran his mouth off and got suspended for it? How about earlier this season when he ran his mouth and got suspended by the team as well?
Sorry, but Ozzie calling out anyone for being immature is not a good thing to do, when he himself is as immature as anyone in that locker room.
I liked Ozzie as a manager of the White Sox when he was there, but his act got tiring and he should have been fired a year before he actually was. He lost that team twice in 2 years, and it seems he already has lost this team half way through the season. There is zero chance this team will be kept together after next year, not with the way those contracts are structured. Its a shame Buerhle followed him to the Marlins though, he should have gone to an actual team and left loyalty behind.
I'm surprised it took this long honestly. Chicago has improved without him, and there is zero chance this Marlins team will be the same next year. I am loving it though, because this is exactly what I knew would happen in Florida, they got the new tax payer fleeced stadium, and still have thousands of fans dressed as empty seats appearing, so it is not the stadium that is the reason for no one showing up to the games, nor is it the fact that they suck either, because when they were hot, fans still didn't show up.
Except the Cubs didn't build Wrigley. It was built for a federal league team. The Cubs simply moved into Wrigley after the Federal league flopped. Wrigley Field is a tourist trap, while Comiskey isn't, and the main reason why it isn't, is because they built it to look like a barren wasteland, missing the retro Renaissance Baltimore started not to long after Comiskey opened, which led to more stadiums being multipurpose for year round destinations and not just summer.
And the funny thing is, the Ricketts family knew these high priced talents were going to be a drain on them when they bought the team. Tribune fleeced the living crap out of the Ricketts family, by backloading all those high priced deals to come into play after they sold the team.
The only way the Cubs will dump this guy is if they pay 99% of the salary for the duration, much like they are doing with Carlos Zambrano in Florida
Read the CBA, its spelled out exactly what they can and cannot say. The head coach knows that there are rules, and if he **** up, its on him for not knowing the rules.
It isn't petty if Goodell fines him and punishes the team, the guy violated the terms of the CBA and the punishment is deserved.
I guess Loria has some good dirt on Selig, or is good on the kneepads with Selig
