What would placate the man's ego more than going out on top? He knows his teeth are getting long, and - say what you will about him - he wants this team to win.

# 9's contract will be negotiated in the off-season, and if JJ decides that he is their man (and the Boy's miss/get blown out of the playoffs) he will bring in Payton (and give him sufficient control), for Romo's (and quite possibly Jerry's) last ride.

Please, noooooo. Not as a head coach.

Zim can coach defensive X's and O's (much like Wade Phillips)...but he is not the best evaluator of talent/leader of men. Which is exactly why he has been "continually passed up".

Now...if he wants to join Payton's staff (I just love to dream.) - after we go 1-3 over the last quarter - I'm all for it.

JG's the only coach that is still on the roster from when those problems began. The only thing that has changed (Instead of it being, Flozell, 98 percent of the time) is that now it spreads across both lines. Hmmm...

The worst outcome would be to - somehow - slide into playoffs. Without a doubt, it would mean that some of the core issues of this team would not be addressed (and get glossed over), yet again.

However, given the recent track record of the "head puppeteer", that will probably happen regardless of the seasons outcome.

I agree with your statement, but I'm not sure about the execution of it. Hiring a GM would be the ultimate admission that he has been wrong. I'm far more inclined to believe that he would throw the money first.

If Sean is still lingering around at the end of the year, this is a very real possibility. If it wasn't JG at the helm (a member of the "family") it would be done already.

Jerry already got burned by hanging on to Wade for too long (and he knows it). As his teeth get longer, you're going to see that trigger finger get itchier by the season.
