The real question is "Why did it take so long?" The Giants could have done this the next day. Any other guy doing any other job walks into a crowded bar and fires a gun, he is out of work and in jail. Pro football player.... How good is he? How bad is the crime?... Let's think it over before we "ruin" the season. This was a no brainer from day one, but the Giants took four months to figure it out.

I am a believer in the criminal justice system. He did the crime and did the time. I think he has the right to try to get on with his life and use whatever skills he has to make a living.
You can argue all day and all night about he killed dogs etc. But agian, he lost a fortune in money and did two years in jail. The justice system says he paid for the crime.

Sorry about the decline of St. John's, but this is program that has been in decline for a long time. Simply put, St. John's can't compete for blue-chippers on a year in year out basis because it doesn't have anything to offer that a high school player can't get more and better somewhere else.
St. John would be better served if they gave up and went the way of NYU, CCNY, LIU, Fordham, Manhatten, etc.
Move on and concentrate on giving a good education to it's students.

I am still astounded with the Jets lack of planning around the most important player on the field. It wouldn't have taken a degree in rocket science to figure that Farve was a very short term answer. They deserve to suffer through another season with a mediocre or journeyman QB. What next, trading a first round draft pick for Plexico....

PS good AND experienced aren't easy to come by. Experienced and medicre or good and inexperienced is always available.

Spurrier is an arrogent jerk and the whole state is delusional. Maybe once every ten or fifteen years SCarolina will come close to winning the SEC, but with antics like that.... NEVER gonna happen.

That HS coach can do whatever he wants. He is free to "welcome" or "not welcome", Spurrier and his minions to the school.

Delhomme is a journeyman QB. Nothing wrong with that. Bad play calls, and having no backup QB isn't Delhomme's fault.
Farve's future was ten years ago. Nobody needs Farve as a starter. The Jets proved that. They gave up on Pennington, a guy who needed some help and bought Farve, a guy who can't be helped.
Remainds me of when the 49ers traded for OJ Simpson around 1980. Selling your future to buy a past.... DUH!!!

I may be wrong about this but my understanding of a scholarship is that the university has the option to rescind the scholarship. The scholarship isn't necessisarily a gaurantee of four years.
But with that being said, if an eighteen oe nineteen year old kid changes his mind, why should the any school have the right to restrict his choices. Lot of students transfer to different schools. Miami is making more out of this than they need to. Miami comes off looking petty and vindictive.

Robert Smith isn't the only one to turn down the NFLPA. Mike Gibbons, who as you know had a talent shortened career, was asked about taking over the job and turned it down. Apparently, he is very happy working as a landscape architect in North Carolina and playing tennis in Raleigh. I talked to him about the job and he told me that you couldn't pay him enough to leave Raleigh, but he felt honored by the inquiry.

Exactly, the point... They give large sums of money to very young guys and get surprised because they don't act like sixty year old workaholics. But they love all the press when they hook up with starlets, models etc.
