Make A-Rodney choke up and hit for singles. No one will trade for him, and he's lost his power anyway, so why not make him useful to the team and try to get something of value for what's still owed on the contract? He can still defend and (mostly) make the throws from third to first, at least when he's not stylin'.
BV was a bad hire without a doubt, but the Sox ownership is still the problem. Henry's still more interested in his British soccor holdings than he is his baseball team, and it has shown. Field Marshal Steinbrunner was a jerk, but at least he threw his money at the Yanks; Henry just seems like an absentee landlord.
Happy Fourth to all! (and continued best wishes to catwoman)
I'm not one for predictions, but I'm starting to wonder if the folks at 2K12 don't have some inside info. If you play the "My Player" (create your own) mode and play several seasons beyond 2012, wierd things start to happen. Ibanez and Jeter retire (with still a year left on his contract!) , Swish goes to Boston (horrors), Cano goes to the Dodgers in 2013 and AROD retires in 2014! I got Gardy back for one year, but now he's gone too, along with Martin (Rays) and Grandy. All that's left is Tex and most of the pitching, although Hughes went to the Giants. Despite all this, I've still had enough to win two WS in three seasons, but only because my created player is a monster catcher who hits .400 with over 150 rbi a year.
This is all just mindless fun, but the interesting thing is the Yanks' acqisitions. Like the actual team, the XBox yanks seem reluctant to sign anyone, although I did eventually get Stanton from the Marlins. But get this: my closer has been David Phelps, who has had 40 and 50 saves in 2013, 2014, and my best starter has been Brad Myers (yes the one who is on the trading block now) who won the Cy Young award last season pitching from the fifth spot for the Yankees!
A bunch of folks have pointed out that "art imitates life," and although I know there's lots of variables (duh-I still can't figure out how to control the computer team's payroll), the experience of watching the Yankees flit away--even on an xbox--was pretty chilling. I've always been a "core believer," but to see the Steinbrenner oligarchy pass on Soler, etc. got me thinking that the drive to push the salary costs below $180m is really the mark of a business trying to make itself more attractive for sale, despite the Steins' denials. That's why the upcoming negotiations with Swish and Cano, etc. will be very interesting, though I doubt that as in MLB 2k12, ARod will "self-deport" himself from the team.
Say it ain't so!
Rupert Murdoch already has his phone bugged.
Show us your taxes, Bobby.
This is the sort of acting out that many thought he had outgrown.
Then why are you speaking?

Newmar and Lowell George? You are the cat's meow!
