I would rather keep Tex for the year and get draft picks if he leaves, than trade him and not get full value.
I agree that the Braves overpaid for Tex. They should not magnify that by getting less in a trade.....unless, of course, they can get top dollar, which I doubt.
The bottom line is that with the Mets choking as per usual and the Marlins a bit young, the division is wide open. I see the Phightin' Phils as the only real competition come September.

Answer: Because they would rather let him walk away at the end of this season, take more $ from another team, and leave the Braves getting screwed with nothing. The Braves ARE TOO CHEAP to keep any good players { i.e. Rafael Furcal, Sheffield, Javy Lopez(when he was good) }

All those players maybe had one good year in them when they left. Now they are they are DL candidates or out of baseball.
In fact the Braves have a history of letting players go just before the "big slump," Can you say, Andruw Jones?
I think the Braves are pretty savvy Salary Cap players. A smart team would let any Boras player go and collect young talent in return.
Dealing with Boras is just not worth it!

Daly reminds me of an old college roommate. He was fun and games until one day he was caught driving the wrong way on an interstate. Fortunately it was in the wee hours and was rural so no one was hurt.
In his case, he had a wake up call and has been sober ever since.
I hope Long John doesn't wait for a similar "wake up call."
