While his career didnt end as strong as he started, when he was in his prime, he was probably the best hitter that wasn't on steroids/andro/whaetever in the game. Perhaps we will never truly appreciate what he did, because of the group of steroid using players he did it amongst. He would have stood out alot more amongst a group of players who were not on the juice.
For example in 98 when Mcgwire hit 70, Griffey finished second in the league with 56. Or in 99, Mcgwire hit 65, Griffey again finshed second with 48. Griffeys legacy is arguable one of the biggest victims of the steroid culture that plagued baseball.
Let them play the game, it seems like he is just looking for publicity. Why else would the head of the NFL be the one to meet with Wilfork????? makes no sense
