And missed the playoffs five out of the last six years. A head coach who's offenses finished on average 27th in the league. Who couldn't adjust his game plan DURING a game, terrible clock management, and seemingly always challenged a play when after looking at the replay you knew they were going to lose. Lovie was an average coach and that is what you got...average teams.
What loyalty to his coaches!? Dopie Smith has been through what 30+ assistant coaches in his nine years. Players love him because he holds no one accountable for playing like crap! (See Grossman, J. Webb, Benson, and his O-line for the past 5 years.)
I agree with you on this on Rascal! I just finished watching the game and nobody blocked...nobody. Webb and K. Davis are just worthless. If I was Cutler and I saw my LT laughing after he just got beat like a red headed stepchild I would have punched him right in the damn mouth. As for Kellen Davis...can't catch, can't block, can't do anything. Just shows how much stupid Dopie Smith and the rest of his idiot are.
Like you said it is just one game, but it still got my blood boiling after watching it.
I see the legacy of Jerry Angelo's stupidity is still and will be affecting the Bears for years to come at left tackle. C. Williams already had three strikes on him when he was drafted by Angelo #1 - to soft mentally (not mean enough) #2 - short arms for LT position #3 - medical red flags comming out of college (bad back)
Then there is JWebb....who was a 7th round pick, and now we are finding out doesn't have the fire within or work ethic to prove anybody wrong and show that he belongs or is better than his draft position reflects.
Angelo's poor drafts and personnel choices will continue to hamstring this franchise for years to come.
But in reality most don't. Hell, G. McCoy (DT) of the Bucs was recently quoted as saying in his years of playing football nobody really taught him how to tackle, he simply relied on him being so much better than everybody else. McCoy thinks that one of his injuries (a torn biceps) was cause due to poor tackling fundementals.
Now I'm telling you if the NFL was really serious about player safety, they should have each team having to practice twice a week for a short time on proper tackling form. This would cut down on the idiots that lead with their head, less head shots, and just less injuries all around for all the players.
Lovie Smith ripped into a player about poor tackling? Is this the same Lovie that does not even practice or teach proper tackling technics to his players?
Best just needs to walk away before he does any more damage to his mellon. If there are still medical or even moral/ethical questions about putting him back on the field, then don't. Tell him you tried but for your future health you need to walk away while you still can remember your own name. It's a damn shame too, cuz I thought he had real talent to be an excellent back for the Lions.
$26 million per year for the next five years is an insult!? That woman needs to **** and go pound sand! I can't believe that players or their immediate close circle (wives, agents, or family) are so stupid to drop a comment like that with everyday Joe's struggling to make it from paycheck to paycheck in today's economy.
Forte is right, the Bears are content to just use him up until nothing is left. I feel sorry for Forte because he will never receive the payout he deserves. Due to the CBA the Bears can franchise him for the next two years, now that can be alot of money but not the long term security he is looking for.
When those two years are up he will be 27 going on 28, with six years of heavy duty pounding. Now at that age and mileage, most NFL RB's production starts to take a nose dive. (With the few exceptions: Payton, Smith, Allen, and C. Martin) At this point most teams will not sign Forte to the long term, big money contract he is looking for.
I'm sorry, but if Ziggy is smart enough to build the fortune that he has...then he is smart enough to figure out how to build himself a new stadium for his business. The days of tax payers chipping in to pay for stadiums are over. I would hate to see the fans in Minnesota lose the Vikings but I can see the why the politicians are stalling/not giving in to ransom demands of Ziggy.
"The deal was not consummated," "A deal is not a deal until I talk to Joel Bussert, and I never talked to Joel Bussert." - Ozzie Newsome during the 2003 NFL draft.
Where does he think he is going to go? A injury prone QB on the wrong side of 35....not many team will start him or give him the money he is looking for.
Can't do it. Angelo is a idoit when it comes to identifying talent even in his own backyard....Romo from Eastern Illinois, Bart Scott from Southern Illinois, Michael Turner from Northern Illinois. And can anyone name a single offensive lineman that Angelo has drafted that has actually turned out to be worth a damn? Oh wait you can because Angelo has only drafted what? four? five? maybe in nine years running the Bears draft.
This might be a good place to go. Newton can sit behind Fitz for a year or two (ala Carson Palmer/Aaron Rodgers) and have time to get his footwork and reads down before taking the reins. From everything I've read so far, the kid has a good work ethic. Which will sit well in a town like Buffalo.
Like you said it is just one game, but it still got my blood boiling after watching it.

Mr. Biscotti, should remember what his own GM did and ****!
Vikings...welcome to your new home in Los Angeles.
