Embree doesn't seem to have a clue about how to coach, much less about how to turn the program around. His press conferences are filled with pithy sayings such as "it is what it is" and so on. He has absolutely no energy. I can hardly imagine he shows much on the recruiting trail.

A coach is the administrator who creates the game plan and manages the game-day tactics. In those respects Turner has never even been adequate.

Multiple problems with that plan. First, it would be a travel nightmare. Teams like Seattle travel enough as it is. East Coast teams aren't going to want the additional travel either. Second, teams build up rivalries. The Yankees and Red Sox (and ESPN) aren't going to want to sacrifice games between each other for additional games against a team across the country. Third, if there is just NL and AL, if team B finishes 20 games behind team A while playing the same schedule what justification is there to give team B the opportunity to knock team A out of the post-season? This would really make the regular season meaningless.
