It was tough seeing Pat being so different this year. I think it would be a good move to bring Tyler Summitt onto the women's coaching staff whether his mom stays or goes. I would like to see him inherit that job someday.
I think that is some excellent news coming from Cutcliffe. Peyton was great at UT, but has been the best QB in the NFL for most if not all of his playing days. Look the impact of Peyton on the Colts when he wasn't present. They were horrible. I hope the Titans get him because I"m a UT fan and live in TN.
Why is his wife on the radio saying these things? Let Albert be a man and state his rationale about leaving his hometown. Albert's numbers have been great, but I believe those numbers will be taking a nose dive in the future if he is still playing. Albert could have possibly displaced Stan the Man as the greatest Cardinal hitter. Furthermore, he had great shots at breaking NL and Cardinal records too. I don't know how many MLB records he will beat with the Angels.
Here's a great article on Pujols and his exit to LA. Pujols had a good chance to be a historical icon with the Cards. He still has a chance to be one, but will have to do it with a great numbers to break MLB records. It would have been easier to have broken club and NL records by staying with his home team.
Sad day for the Cards! Hate to see him go, but 10 years at 254 mill is a huge risk. DH does potentially help the Angels down the road. Cards need to take most of this money and sign high quality shortstop, 2nd baseman, and CF. Without Pujols, they will offensive production from these positions.
I say 10 years and 220 million would be the max. I want to keep Pujols. However, he is 31 now. 10 years is a long time. I would front load the contract to lessen the impact in later years when his production might fall off. However, you have a guy who could be breaking MLB and Cardinals records later in his career. That should put fans in the seats even in the later years. Go Cards!
