Ankiel was the third best center fielder on the Cardinals after Rasmus and Schumaker. Check the zone ratings for 2008 and 2009. I wish Ankiel well but he's more of a right fielder than a center fielder in my opinion. He most certainly does have a plus arm.

The only thing I saw in the Post which would lead me to believe that is Joe Strauss misrepresenting what Mo said about Jason Bay. Mo said Bay is a possibility, but not a priority. Who didn't know that Holliday is our first priority.

It's also possible Adam Dunn might be better in the Cards lineup than Jason Bay due to our need of some left handed power. Bay and Dunn both are defensive liabilities.

We always knew Bay was the second choice.

I'd like to see DeRosa back, but not if the bidding goes over 6 million or more than 2 years. He's a 35 year old utility player. Granted he's one of the very best utility players, but he's still an aging utility player.
