How is this a story?

That's just funny.
I'm impressed--paraphrasing Mark Twain. That's the perfect way to put it, though, if you ask me.
Crosby's playoff beard was embarassing--absolutely hilarious, though.
It's an old joke, but there's gotta be a better way to put that.
That's a good point. He hasn't proven himself over a full season, so I'll give the nod to Lundqvist. But the Pens have such a young team you can expect to see improvement on most fronts.
P.S. It's nice to civilly debate hockey.
Shero had a plan and stuck to it. He won't overpay (see: Sundin, Mats and his $10m/yr offer) to get a guy that would be useful. He'll get someone like Markus Naslund to fill the gap left by Malone and bank, perfectly reasonably, on seeing improvement from the younger players.
Bottom line unless the Pens start adding quality players they will not be better than last year. Gentle reminder they fell short last year.
That's the thing though, they weren't all huge parts. Hossa didn't contribute much until the playoffs, coming at the deadline and being hurt for a while. Ruutu was a good winger, but certainly not one that can't be replaced, Roberts was way overpriced for his age, and he too is a replaceable player. Conklin wouldn't have even been thought twice about had it not been for Fleury's injury, and you don't want to sign a back up goalie on the off-chance that your starter goes out for half the year (though I am surprised he signed for only 750,000).
Granted I'm inherently biased towards the Penguins, but these young players will only get better. Fleury, Malkin, Sidney, Staal...all 23 or younger. I've never heard of anyone topping out at that age. I don't necessarily think the Pens have done a great job, but it's certainly not bad. Assuming they can sign Jagr or Naslund or someone along those lines, they'll still be very good.
