Look, I think we can all agree that the important end result of Jr vs. Vickers is that Kyle went into the wall, and doesn't that make it all worthwhile?
Posted Sunday February 15, 2009, About: Bitter Petty won't watch Daytona
Vickers could have just as easily been turned the other way and Jr. would have driven right into him. I don't think what he pulled was on purpose. He's a good enough driver that if he was aiming for Vickers, he would have gotten a bigger piece of him. Even if it was, Vickers hit him first pulling a b**** blocking move. Hate it for the drivers that got knocked out of the race but that's plate racing. But man, you don't race like that until closer to the end of the race.

I'm a Jr. fan but dang, don't go suggesting a rule change just because you suck at pitting.
Posted Tuesday September 09, 2008, About: Petty taking shots at big owners
It's cheaper to make the products overseas with their dirt cheap labor and low overhead costs and ship them back to the US, than it is to make the products here and sell them here.

I remember seeing a show a couple of months ago about making bras. The silk is woven and sewn in China, but the underwires were made in the US...and then shipped to China, the bras were assembled there, and then shipped BACK to the US. Even that was cheaper than making the entire bra here. As long as it remains profitable for a company to do that, they're going to. It's kind of the downside to unrestricted free trade.

He needs to get over it. The smaller teams like Yates and Haas partner with the larger teams so they're not relegated to the back of the pack with Kyle Petty and his principles.

Don't take blame, take credit.

I'd love it if everyone repaid Kyle during the Chase and cost him a title.
Posted Friday September 05, 2008, About: No Nationwide COT before 2010
Yeah, the plan was to move to the shorter wheelbase cars when they jumped to COT. It'd be fun to have a series of Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger vs....Corolla? But instead we're going to get another Sticker Series.

It's not a 1.5 mile oval, so bring it on.

NJMP is actually road courses. Might make a good replacement for Mexico City, if nothing else.

Should be an easy enough transition, HMS has been supplying Haas lately anyway.
Posted Wednesday August 27, 2008, About: Shootout changes help carmakers
So you end up with Chevy fielding its two power teams and Ford showing Roush and an also-ran. Toyota's got some strong cars, but the lack of depth in that brand is shown by Mikey being included. And Dodge...well, what can you say about that group.
Posted Wednesday August 27, 2008, About: Shootout changes help carmakers
Right now, the field would be:

Toyota:
Kyle Busch
Tony Stewart
Denny Hamlin
Bryan Vickers
David Reutimann
Michael Waltrip

Dodge:
Kasey Kahne
Ryan Newman
Kurt Busch
Elliot Sadler
Juan Pablo Montoya
Bobby Labonte

Chevy:
Dale Jr.
Jimmie Johnson
Jeff Burton
Kevin Harvick
Jeff Gordon
Clint Bowyer

Ford:
Carl Edwards
Greg Biffle
Matt Kenseth
David Ragan
Jamie McMurray
Travis Kvapil

Also bad news for Stewart and Newman, who won't be getting into the new Shootout without some miracles being worked by whoever drives the two Haas cars week to week.

Mikey may not be the worst driver out there, but danged if he isn't the unluckiest. I lost count of the times this season when something's happened on the track and he's right there in the middle of it.
Posted Thursday August 21, 2008, About: Is NASCAR cheating a given?
If you're not cheating, you're not trying. But if you get caught, you pay for it.

What's so hard about that? JGR got caught this time, and they're paying for it. And they're working right now on the next scheme to gain an edge, same as every other team.

STP, and I say this as someone who was never a fan of his, it's because of what he accomplished in that car, wearing that number. It's synonymous with him. Also, that's where he died at the end of the sport's biggest event. Davey died in a hospital bed, after crashing a helicopter. The 3, regardless of whether it is that exact car, is a tomb. The 28 is commonly associated with a number of drivers, and nobody died in it. In time, I'm sure the 3 will see action again someday, but likely not for at least another generation.
Posted Wednesday August 20, 2008, About: Texaco getting out of NASCAR
I'm glad to see the 28 back on the track, personally. Davey didn't really have it long enough to make it "his" in the same way Dale owned the 3. It would seem cheap and callous for someone else to jump into the 3 for anything but a one-off exhibition, but driving the 28 somehow comes across as more of a tribute than an insult, I think because Davey never had time to really show us what he could do. Just as long as the driver doesn't try to grow a righteous pornstache like Davey's.

Kind of a useless penalty on Stewart, though - wasn't that supposed to be his last Nationwide race of the season anyway?
Posted Thursday August 14, 2008, About: Kansas track wants second race
If Kansas got a second date? Take one from Pocono.

Heck, take one from Pocono anyway and just show a couple of guys playing NASCAR 09 on the Playstation that weekend.

Kansas has two too many races as it is.
