Posted Monday March 03, 2014, About: How the Cowboys could land Manziel
What a stupid, stupid, STUPID "story". The Cowboys just signed Romo to a HUGE contract which included a very large signing bonus. Even if the trade were to happen (which it will NEVER happen, because Jerry Jones loves him some Tony Romo), the Cowboys would have to count all of Romo's signing bonus against this year's cap, which they are already over by double digits.

This must have been some Texans writer's wet dream, because it has zero basis in reality.
Posted Wednesday September 11, 2013, About: At this pace, Vick's 'not gonna last' for Eagles
Vick won't last not because he's smaller, but because he simply doesn't have a feel for pressure. He gets hit hard because he doesn't feel anyone coming and holds the ball too long.

Any QB can work this offense, he doesn't have to be a read-option. Just run it as a spread-option, get the ball out fast or hand it off, adjust receiver routes as necessary, and no one can hit the QB. I can totally see Peyton Manning or Carson Palmer working such an offense.

Wearing your baseball cap the proper way with the bill in front is not going to help, Tony.

Posted Monday June 17, 2013, About: Blaine Gabbert expected to be named Jaguars starting QB
The Jags had to build their O line regardless of who they have at QB. So why not give Gabbert some protection and see what happens? A very good decision considering there weren't any real must-haves at QB in this year's draft anyway.
Posted Thursday June 13, 2013, About: Signs of trouble for Puig
You don't throw at someone's head, and that's what Kennedy did to Puig. He came within an inch of getting pegged in the eye or a couple of inches from his temple, impacts which could not only end his career but also potentially kill him. I'd be pissed off too!
How ridiculous. Often times a restructuring results in more guaranteed money for the player than simply depending on the remaining years of a contract. Allen needs to shut his cowboy pie hole and wait until something actually happens.
Posted Tuesday April 23, 2013, About: Revis says Jets lied to him
I think Tampa Bay is going to be very, very happy that they didn't guarantee any of Revis' money in about 18 months. That's about when Revis is going to start clamoring for a new deal with guaranteed money. The dude can't simply enjoy his $16M/yr and produce to earn it.
Posted Saturday April 06, 2013, About: Oakland Raiders "very likely" to trade down in draft
For the Raiders to trade down, they need a team stupid enough to trade up. NOT . . . GONNA . . . HAPPEN . . . .
Posted Tuesday March 26, 2013, About: Palmer would interest Cardinals
The cards would be better off using their money on O line and defensive backs than Carson Palmer. They're not going to win the division or a wild card this year, so put the building blocks in place and draft a QB next year. Who knows, Stanton may surprise people once he's given a chance. If not, draft one next year with a likely top 10 pick (seeing as they play Seattle and 49ers 4x, and St. Louis 2x - that's a lot of losses just in the division). Palmer doesn't make them that much better.
Posted Monday March 18, 2013, About: Chiefs could trade Branden Albert
The Chiefs have a glaring need for wins, and quality offensive linemen are always needed. Especially given that they released Eric Winston, their RT, so they'll need a replacement for RT even if they draft a LT.

I'm sure the Chiefs are listening for trade offers, as they should be. See if someone knocks your socks off. If not, sign Albert and plug him in at one of the tackle spots, depending on who you draft.
Posted Sunday March 10, 2013, About: Will Amar'e Stoudemire call it a career?
Looks like the Suns were very smart not to resign Amare when he was demanding a long-term deal.
Posted Friday March 01, 2013, About: Revis in New England?
Not a chance. Trading Revis to your division rival, especially one you hate and which is already significantly better than you? So you're going to trade them the best corner in the game as a way to fix the Patriots only real weakness?

Posted Thursday January 24, 2013, About: Jets owner exploring Revis trade
Chiefs will trade Matt Cassel for Revis straight up right now.
Posted Friday January 18, 2013, About: Alex Smith joining Norv in Cleveland?
Ridiculous. Cleveland won't trade for Alex Smith when they have McCoy and Weeden on the roster. They really want to pay and keep 3 first round draft picks? And everyone knows that 49ers will cut Smith. The only teams desperate enough for a QB are KC and Arizona, and both need to keep and use their picks on O line and other needs. Arizona can get by with Kevin Kolb for a year while they rebuild their line. KC has Quinn and hasn't even tried Stanzi yet, so the most they'll do is pick up Smith in free agency.
Posted Tuesday January 08, 2013, About: Holmgren to Chargers?
Holmgren is great as a coach. He has never been good at personnel, as his time in Seattle as GM/head coach and Cleveland have proven. If the Chargers hire a good GM to work with Holmgren, it could be a good fit. If they give Holmgren player personnel responsibilities too, the Chargers will not improve.
Posted Thursday January 03, 2013, About: Stoudemire: 'I've never been taught defense'

OMG, did Amare really just say that and think people would believe him?!? It's not April Fool's Day yet, is it?

I think the basics of defense, and correct me if I'm wrong (I'm not a professional basketball player, so bear with a layman's opinion), are thus:

1. Get in front of the offensive player
2. Don't let him run past you
3. If he shoots, try to block his shot
4. If he misses his shot, get the rebound

I know defense is mind-blowingly complex at the NBA level, so hopefully Amare can benefit from my defensive tips!
Posted Wednesday January 02, 2013, About: Reid's pitch to Cards: I can fix Kolb
This is ridiculous that "fixing Kolb" would be part of Andy Reid's pitch. That should have nothing to do with it. His "pitch" should be fixing Arizona's offense and how to get an offensive line.
Posted Monday December 17, 2012, About: Key player vote expected to pass easily
What a bunch of malarkey. So the players form a union, forcing the owners to negotiate only with the union and creating a collective bargaining agreement. But then the union can't come to terms with the owners, and now decides that the ownership structure is illegal and wants to dissolve itself so it can file a different kind of lawsuit charging the owners with running a monopoly. Um, wasn't the union a monopoly of hockey players because the owners couldn't negotiate with any players who weren't in the union? The players didn't seem to mind their union when they were getting money out of the owners. Now old Donald Fehr is out to kill another sport as he nearly did to baseball. Ridiculous.
Posted Monday December 17, 2012, About: Big Ben openly questions play-calling
But he's right. It's al lTodd Haley's fault that the play calls for Ben to throw late and behind hiss receivers, or for the receivers to let defenders cover them for 5-6 seconds until Ben is done finding his way out of the pocket and ready to throw.
Posted Friday December 14, 2012, About: Rangers blindsided by Hamilton call
Considering the Rangers didn't seem to be that anxious to re-sign Hamilton, they really shouldn't be surprised. If you would be willing to pay a guy $125 million, you probably should go after him hard and not give him the chance to hit free agency. If I were in Hamilton's shoes, and the Rangers told me to let them know what offers I received and then they would decide whether they would match/beat them, I would conclude that the Rangers didn't want me that badly.
