GameOn, you're an idiot. It's actually the state government that has named it The Ohio State University. That is what it was named in the Ohio Revised Code when it was founded, so it is the official, legal name of the school. I'm not one to go around using it nor do I want or expect others to, but the people that make fun of it seem to sound like bigger jackasses than those that say it. As for Pryor, I don't get supporting Vick, I see no reason why he shouldn't play again, but I don't feel bad for him like he needs support. Then again, if you grew up liking him, then I guess you would feel more strongly. Poor choice of words I agree, though, as was pointed out, there were some words taken out of the quote it looks like. In any event, pointless story at the very least.

The difference here with Favre is Smoltz didn't say he was retiring (twice) and didn't talk about whether he was coming back or not for months 2 yrs in a row.....he made a point of saying he was coming back in the first place. Granted, maybe he won't be able to come back ability wise, but I think it's far from anyone to begrudge him it. Everyone knew what the plan was and the chances they were taking, it's not Smoltz's fault.

wow, for all the criticism T&R gets for the occasional stupidity of their thread topics, I think the comments here far trump SI this time around. This is a sports site and, while the story here is only tangential to sports (blame Boston Globe for that I guess), why people are bringing up politics and bashing a man who's just died - regardless of allegations (yes, allegations) brought up against him while he was alive - is beyond me. Go gripe on FoxNews or something if that's what you want to talk about.

He's just saying that he'd rather start, probably because he loves playing - like Favre - or else he'd rather be finished. Some people enjoy and desire the mentor role and some don't.....no one is obligated to.
