Exactly. Yes, it's certainly unfortunate for Ireland. But frankly, is anyone really going to miss Irish team (no offense) in the World Cup? France now brings controversy, star power, and a squad full of individual talents. Makes for good World Cup soccer as far as I am concerned.

See, you made some good points there. I also thought that the players have a professional obligation to their paying teams first and act in their best interests. Say, team owners urge NBA to place a league wide ban on international players to play for their national teams for fear of injuries. Should'nt we then stop our own NBA players from playing in international games as well because injuries 'can' happen to any player? Then, our national team will be full of college players b/c our national team is currently composed of NBA players?

If we do let our players play, won't that be similar to giving our team an unfair advantage and result in international outcry? Then again, the international scene might just bless the ban and would rather play against our college players..I don't know... I feel like this topic always dead-ends into this dilemma, for me at least.

Yes, it will be very hard to get equal value. I don't think Brand is a 100% and he clearly hasn't rounded back into his 20-10 shape. But if Sixers want to cut losses and get something fair while doing it, they shouldn't bench him (provided he is healthy enough). Then, he becomes a $60M-a-year, injured dude on the bench. At least, that's how their prospective trade partner will play their hand. (Plus, don't they don't big guys or something with Speights injured?)

Play him limited minutes and encourage him to at least go back to an 18-7 guy with those minutes. Give him confidence. Brand is a good enough player when healthy to want to go back to his old self. No one wants to tie up their cap space now with the current-condition Brand. So, I don't think they can move him until after every team signs their favorite or left-over FAs this coming summer. As we all know, there will always be a need for an AS low post player Brand was before his latest injury.

Shop him all they want. But it doesn't mean that they will be able to move him at this point. This guy played 29 games last season. And a whopping number of 9 games before that. Then factor in his enormous contract and poor play in this young season (5 reb, 9.5 pts, 42% FG). Any takers? Please, for the city of brotherly love? Didn't think so.

Good observation about Spoesltra. I have always thought he is a solid head coach for being so green. And how about Rick? I know we were talking about this guy last two seasons. But will he ever get the credit he deserves anytime soon? Yes, Houston was smoked by Dallas last night. Then again.....so were the Lakers.

A new GM for Heat? How about Donnie Walsh? Makes Hllywd's day.

Been good....Sir....I was hoping for a more 'healthy' start to an exciting NBA season, if you know what I mean. A little bummed out in that regard...but I guess injuries happen....and better now than in May, I suppose. :) Hope all is well with you.

I can't see this guy going anywhere before the Feb deadline. It would take a contender or near contention team whose first half of season didn't go well as planned. I think for now Cavs would stand pat as they should and see how the first half goes before they go out to get Jackson.

I see what you mean about trading him. I think his contract is way too hefty and lengthy for most teams especially when every team seems to be clearing space for the summer of good to great FAs..... The teams you mentioned like...MIA, OKC are waiting for the summer to make a move to put them in contention...getting Brand 'today' doesn't do that for them.

What he needs to do is to regain his near AS form prior to Philly and to his injury_that is the best situation for both Sixers and Brand himself, I think. Then, (hopefully) wait till next summer for a team who wants to fill a need for a guy like him after they sign their FAs.

Nothing wrong with chasing the dollars. Nothing wrong with complaining about your minutes, touches, etc....sometimes. However.....there IS something wrong with complaining about your situation after chasing dollars (and also being rusty following an injury.....)

What about the Wizards? Will they EVER catch a break (now Jamison, Miller out)?

Kenyon Martin, and Tony Parker got injured last night alone. Josh Howard, Pau, Bynum, and the regulars from Houston, just to mention a few top players from top teams in the West.

Looking around the league, man, though this season is still young, there are already too may injuries to too many teams, if you ask me.

right....I have not said and will never say their season hinges on Delonte....but I will say again that if he can keep a level head, he should help the team now and later in the season, in my opinion. And it was a joke about you being a menace to West, btw... :)
